Society wants government to spend, just on the right things. It is not really a question of communism/socialism and capitalism, not to the average person.

.... who's national budget is this, can you guess?
Quote:
"______________'s national Budget in 2012 will grow by 43% to Bs. 297.5 billion ($69 billion), as the nation continues to benefit from construction led growth and improved employment and social development indicators.
"Approximately 40% of the budget, or Bs. 116 billion, is allocated to social spending in 2012. This reflects increases in spending on housing (88%), social security (45.8%), health care (43%), science and technology (27%), culture (24%), and education (21.1%).
"The budget lists as one of the objectives of the high public expenditure “to guarantee the advance of economic growth”, particularly through a series of new social programs that aim to build 3 million new homes, create 2.8 million jobs, boost agricultural production, and make direct monthly transfers to poor single mothers."
-end quote-
So, would you rather have this one than the latest national budget in, for example, Canada?

It is Venezuela's national budget.

- an interesting read to see how Venezuala lives.
Venezuela - you know, with the President that America's government was trying to kill, the socialist President Chavez. He is everything the U.S.A. has been fighting so hard against. Chavez is a democratically elected leader, elected in elections that didn't involve a judge stopping vote counting [Florida, remember?]
This is what the people want. The majority... and I don't mean just in Venezuela. America fights this kind of stuff, this freedom to choose your government and to have your government do what you want it to.
The U.S.A. stops this kind of thing.
They fight democracy.
By the people, of the people and get it - FOR the people - that is what we need to take back. Our chidren are going to see it get worse than "corporate ownership of the government" [and financial hardship for everyone else], unless we turn it around now. Soon. Now.
But ya, doesn't their budget sound good? I like it, I am envious. I wished I lived in a nation where budgets like that were passed regularly.
Admittedly, the 47% increase is unusual and won't be that big of an increase next year, but the focus of the budget is humanism, looking after the people.
Canada's is all business, and cuts to health, education, and environmental protections. No housing, tho there is a great need, especially on Native Reserves - build a million homes on Native reserve, jobs for everyone!
