PROCLAMATION OF INTENT:
A HISTORY OF A CRIME AGAINST PURE FOOD LAW ENDS NOW

"A History of a Crime Against the Pure Food Law," began in 1906 when Special interests in Industry interfered with the enforcement of this Congressional Mandate that would have prevented Obesity, Diabetes, and Allergy Epidemics we have today. The law defended the health of our Children but was cast aside for the Moneybag.

FACE THE FACTS

Today, the Crime continues. Congress cannot grapple with the facts and continues to be influenced by these same Special Interests. Face the Facts, Congress is no longer in a position to grapple with the facts that must be faced.

It is only us now who can fill the shoes of Uncle Sam. Each of us are compelled to become the Sacred Seeds intended, to take our own Sacred Seeds off the Shelf, to Form the New Ground that is asked.

An honest Dialogue on Science, Ethics, and Food is very much needed.

INTRODUCTION DR. HARVEY W. WILEY MD, AN AMERICAN HERO OF PURE FOOD LAW

Dr. Harvey W. Wiley MD is an American Hero who headed the Bureau of Chemistry within the US Government for more than 25 years. He helped pass the Pure Food Law of 1906, but was thwarted at every turn by Special Interests from seeing its enforcement to ensure the Nation's Health. 2012 is the 100th anniversary of D.r Wiley leaving government service, essential being dismissed.

When Dr. Wiley left his Post as Head of the Bureau of Chemistry, He went on to work for Good Housekeeping Magazine.

He said:

"I propose to devote the remainder of my life with such ability as I have at my command and with such opportunities as may arise to the promotion of the principles of Civic Righteousness and Industrial Integrity which underlie the Food and Drugs Act in the hope that it may be administered in the interest of the People at large, instead of that of a comparatively few mercenary manufacturers and dealers.".--Dr. Harvey W. DR WILEY'S VISION FOR A PURE FDA

During his tenure as head of the Department of Chemistry that became the FDA, Dr. Wiley MD did tests to see the impact of foods and drugs on people. They would eat preservatives and such to see the results. Part of the campaign literature of the Right to Know asks if our food is from a farm or a lab? It speaks to the question of whether we are guinea pigs in a science experiment testing the impact of GMOs. At least if they are labeled we can get some data that makes sense. Today, we are on a downhill spirit of ill health, why? Does this have anything to do with GMOs? We will never know under they are labeled. They are basically untested by sound science. It is more a political decision that got them into our system.






In 1906, through the work of Dr. Harvey W. Wiley, MD, the visionary who gave birth to what would become the FDA, a Pure Food Law was passed by Congress to product us from the conditions of Obesity and ill health that have prevailed today.

He could get the law to pass, but Special Interests blocked the Law.

Those same Special Interests are on the march again today in California, where we--7.5 Million of us +2--have it within our reach to give the People of the Gold State, the Right to Know what is in our foods. This Ballot initiative will Label GMO Foods.

Dr. Harvey W. Wiley intent and purpose is rising 100 years after he left public office.

At the time of his exit from government, many newspapers spoke out.

These Borgias of business have won, for the circumstances attended Dr Wiley's recent resignation make it, in practical effect, a dismissal.

"Dr Wiley resigned because the fundamental principles of the Pure Food Law have been strangled; because he has been powerful to punish the manufacturers of misbranded and adulterated drugs and foods; and because the powers of his position had been nullified by executive orders.

"Dr. Wiley was only head of the Bureau of Chemistry, but there is every reason to believe that President Taft will find that Dr Wiley gave the position
an importance out of all proportion to its standing."

Dr. Wiley was the “father” of the famous Pure Food and Drug Law of 1906 and the first head of what would later become the FDA. The Lee Foundation republished his autobiography after the original manuscript was “lost” by the Macmillan Publishing Company and after the book had conspicuously disappeared from every library in the nation. In it, Wiley sets the historical record straight as to how the food industry corrupted the nation’s laws and politicians in order to sell cheap, refined, adulterated, devitalized “foods.” The industry’s usurpation of federal laws and regulations regarding whole foods is an example of American politics at its worst. Original publication date 1929; republished by the Lee Foundation in 1955.

Return to the Waldorf-Astoria Dining Room in 1926. Harvey Wiley’s speech is ending.
“If the Bureau of Chemistry had been permitted to enforce the law as it was written and as it tried to do, what would have been the condition now?”
At the back of the room, Walter Williams, remorseful, turns away from the Reporter and leaves.
“The health of our people would be vastly improved and their life greatly extended…” Harvey continues. The indomitable Harvey’s battle has not ended, but the battleground has changed. He bears his frustration with the understanding and warning that neither industry nor government nor science can save a nation. It is the family that must preserve health, strength and values for the future generations.
Now his conviction is understood. Foreseeing the demise of the nation’s health, he continues to write voraciously. Among his many writings is his story of the Pure Food Law in which he portrays one of the elements in history that contributes to the mystery of how the most blessed nation in the world has unnecessarily suffered under its own indulged weakness. Harvey Wiley closes his book with the compassionate hope that one day its audience will remember its responsibility and be moved to action.
