Notes for Keith Pezzoli--102 Uses of Arundo Donax

I have proved some very important things about Arundo Donax, The Giant Reed, that already go against the grain of common knowledge and practices.

Arundo Donax is considered an invasive species. It can be an invasive species when it is not treated as a crop. It is not a plant that can be lefton its own. if so, it becomes very unruly.

In the last few weeks, I have had two very inspiring encounters with Keith Pezzoli, a UCSD Professor who is involved with sustainability. He has heard enough of what I am saying to assign a student to create a report about Arundo Donax and what I have found out so far.

Much of my research and findings have been published on these Plant Your Dream Blogs.

This I see as a important step to getting to the next organic step of having the crop of Arundo that borders our property managed.

I am going to follow up with Keith.

I want to show photos of the pile of Arundo that we made months ago.

The going understanding is that Arundo could not be shredded.

There was also an understanding that Arundo would resprout.

I have demonstrated on our property that Arundo could be chopped and shreaded.

I have demonstrated that Arundo can be used as a mulch.

I have also demonstrated that the fast growing Arundo can be used as goat fodder.

More to come....
