San Diego Seed Company is doing very important work.
They aspire to be Offering Sustainable Seeds for Local Growers
in San Diego.
April 28th, 2012, they invited the San Diego Community to join in for a fun, food, and Seed Swap at the Wild Willow Education Center.
The San Diego Seed Company Mission:
We strive to step outside the "seed company: box and provide our local growers with more than just seeds. We do this by offering sustainable seeds, educational programs through our non-profit partners, regional seed bank resources and community outreach events.

This was an opening activity of the 5th Annual Cultivating Food Justice Event
in San Diego, a series of a weeks worth of educational opportunities.
Project New Village's 12th Annual Cesar E. Chaves Community Tribute & Celebration, April 21 was a powerful Day of Dialogue and vision for a Southeastern San DIego that will inspire the Nation
The 2012 Cultivating Food Justice event began in my eyes a week before
at Project New Villages 12th Annual Cesar E. Chavez Community Tribute & Celebration.
At the event, I heard the most profound and inspiring plan for Southeastern San Diego, that included many presentations from a wide range of topics including "Why Grow Food?" by Keryna Johnson and Amanda___.
Their presentation detailed methods data showing how small growers, in their own backyards, could grow a significant amount of food to feed their families and neighbors. The program as a whole was called a Day of Dialogue: The Opportunities and Benefits Urban Agriculture in Southeastern San DIego.
My sense is that in order to fulfill the needs of the San Diego region it will take thousands more gardeners growing their own food. The day of depending on other people to grow some of our own food is gone as I see it, although larger organic farms will be the backbone of the the way most of us eat over the next twenty years.
Many Blessings on the founders of the San Diego Seed Company, and all those offering workshops and offerings that continue through May 5 2012
