Powerful Statement Points Out that Kony and President Museveni are both implicated in Uganda Genocide

About a week and a half ago, my Facebook homefeed exploded with multiple posting of Invisible Children’s viral video Kony 2012. I watched the video and was astounded by its content. In a video full of inaccuracies, distortions, manipulations, and a paternalistic attitude toward Africa, the argument was simple: to get Joseph Kony, the US must intervene and arm the Ugandan government.

Kony is a brutal man to be certain. The crimes of the Lord’s Resistance Army (LRA) date back over a quarter century and are only slightly touched upon in the Invisible Children’s video. However, the crimes of Ugandan president Yoweri Museveni dwarf Kony’s. Whereas approximately 40,000 deaths can be attributed to Kony and the LRA, more than seven million can be attributed to Museveni via his brutality in Uganda and the genocides in Rwanda and the Congo.

Of course, Museveni is a favoured client of the US and is very much in line with western interests.

UGANDAN COMMUNITIES TO PROTEST INVISIBLE CHILDREN VIDEO KONY2012

SAN DIEGO, CA — Ugandans in California will host a demonstration in front of Invisible Children's World Headquarters in San Diego, California, to protest the organization's insensitivity, arrogance, and unbalanced portrayal of the 26-year humanitarian and human rights catastrophe in Uganda in the Kony2012 video.

On Saturday, March 31, 2012, Human Rights groups will join Ugandans in a demonstration to show their disagreement with both the content and message of Kony2012. This protest will start at 12:00 Noon and end at 3:00 PM PST at 1620 5th Avenue, San Diego, CA 92101.

Ugandans and survivors of the brutal Kony/Museveni conflict want the world to clearly understand that Joseph Kony and President Museveni are partners in a gross human-rights abuse that has resulted in the death of over one million people and displacement of over two million in northern Uganda. Mr. Olara Otunnu, former U.N. Under-Secretary General and Special Representative of the Secretary General for Children and Armed Conflict, said Museveni and his Movement government is responsible for 97 percent of all deaths that have occurred in Uganda during this conflict and the LRA is responsible for the remaining three percent!

The Invisible Children Inc. want to promote Kony2012; Ugandans, backing Campaign to End genocide in Uganda, want to promote Kony/Museveni2012. They say Kony is only 3% of the problem. The crime of Genocide, they say, falls right on the actions of its president Musveni.

Genocide in Uganda

Conditions in Uganda Call for Action: Genocide is Ongoing

Wow!!! I just watched most of the KONY12 Video, the most watched video on the Internet. It is a compelling story that identifies a brutal rebel killer Joseph Kony. Kony is doing unspeakable crimes in Uganda, and yet I attended a protest today, at the Invisible Children's Headquarters in San Diego, that is convinced Joseph Kony is only 3% of the problem in Uganda.

This group, says, the problem, rests on the government of Urganda itself, and its president, who is responsible for the unspeakable genocide in that distant part of the world, that is right here now through Facebook.

Watching the Kony2012 Video

I applaud what the maker of this film, Jason Russell, has done. I would like to see Joseph Kony brought to justice, and a thorough investigation needs to happen by the makers of this film to the message that I heard today.

Yes, as I see it, ending the crimes of this war criminal; and then, if what the people I heard today were correct, go the distance. FInd a way to improve the lot of the people of Uganda.

This may be the first step.

This outstanding video deserves commendation.

This is a powerful message about a powerful condition that needs to be shifted

I responded to friend Lucy Laroms call for help with this.
I attended for about an hour.

I did some footage on my Iphone.

Here it is.

This is the video that is the concern.

Lucy tells me the problems are with the Urganda government itself that has been and still is mistreating its own people. Going after a rebel leader is only 3% of the problem, I heard another spokesperson say. The immediate issue was new to me. I have been aware of genocide in Uganda. Millions of people have died as a result of mistreatment and being help in camps.

Background

The furor over the clever social media strategy that put the name “Joseph Kony” on the lips of teenagers around the world rumbles on, and I really can’t help thinking this is yet another example of the hidebound institutions of the West failing to keep pace with reality.

A quick catch-up for those not checking Facebook these days: A nonprofit group, Invisible Children, posted a video called “Kony 12” that went viral on YouTube depicting the depraved conduct of Kony and his Lord’s Resistance Army, a vicious guerrilla movement that has been battling the Ugandan (and other regional) security forces since the mid-1990s. The video began showing up in odd places—like my 14-year-old son Griffin's Facebook page, complete with very genuine expressions of outrage from his peers about a world that would allow such atrocities to go on for so long.

The Other Very Compelling Video to Watch is Called KONY12 issued
by the International Invisible Children's Foundation of San Diego:

The KONY12 Video

This is a very compelling a profoundly moving video that is the most watched video right now on the internet. The video for one thing shows that we each have the tools to influence each other through Facebook, and we each have the technology to influence our government to take the actions that need to be taken.

This is the Story that the KONY12 Video Tells:

Invisible Children – Kony 2012.

Filmmaker Jason Russell visited Africa in 2003 and returned with a story that made people ask what they could do to help. Jason co-founded the non-profit Invisible Children Inc. which is working to make the leader of the Lord’s Resistance Army, Joseph Kony of Uganda famous by raising support for his arrest. Kony’s arrest will save thousands of women and children allowing them to live a normal life without fear from the LRA rebels. Jason shares with us his friend Jacob, who after losing his brother and not having the opportunity to attend school Jacob would rather die than live. Unfortunately the ‘United States will not get involved if our National Security or Financial Interest aren’t at stake’. The issue to the US government is not important enough to get involved. So, the people have spoken and made it clear that they want to see something done. Invisible Children currently has 475,000 fans on Facebook and looking to increase that number before April 20th. On the night of April 20th, Kony 2012 crews will hit the streets to set up posters, with hopes of grabbing national attention to the issue. This 30 minute video will be the best thing you watch all week and you can help by spreading the word to get our government involved.

Label GMOs

We each take on the battles that are close to home, and far away. I personally would like the issues of GMOs, that effect many of us, to be taken on by our youth.

There are millions of children in Uganda and in the US who do not have food worthy of being eaten.

We need to send people into Uganda--when the conditions have shifted to restore order. Order will come when the land has a chance to support its people through growing healthy foods.

All People Deserve Healthy Food

All people deserve healthy food. Most people today do not even know what foods is. This film points out an invisible horrific condition; and through my eyes, I see an even greater invisible condition. Stop all war crimes now. Do what what be done first, and then, then, as we stop the bullets, start making sense of the causes underneath.

Dr. Bernard Jensen, a great health pioneer once said, all wars are fought over fertile soil.

May Urganda--all its people one day smile, because the power of the soil is returned to them.

How Delicious Peace Came To Us

by Paul Katzeff, CEO

The Jewish Bantus of Uganda caught my attention, but it was when she described the other two thirds of the cooperative that my heart really began to pound. “There are Muslims and Christians in this coffee cooperative,” she continued. “They are all working together. It’s one community. The co-op president is Jewish, the vice-president is Christian, and the treasurer is Muslim. There are hundreds of families all together; they have one container to sell and soon this year’s crop will be coming...”

“I’ll buy it all,” I said. “All or nothing. I want the entire story. I don’t want any other coffee company to have a single bag. I want to bring this story to the world.”...
