We are at it again...name calling...breaking rank within our organic movement, taking unsustainable actions that potentially harm our sustainability movement and give monsanto the upper hand.

He said, She said...this is just not what is needed now. This makes the PR machine at Monstanto gloat. This is doing Monsanto's work for them.

We need to all get committed to clean up our food supply and end our food emergency. It is way to easy to attack the very people who have committed their lives to give us a clean food supply and who are committed-- to the best of their abilities-- to create a world that moves organic forward!

For me i frame the battle this way:

Find the good in everyone. Put our differences aside. Come together now to win the political battles we can in 2012. These battles nclude putting Monsanto in its place, and reclaiming the future of our food.

We have everything we need to win this battle, and it is a battle as the Organic Stakeholders know. Our Organic Stakeholders went to Washington to sit down at the table in December 2010. They saw the writing on the wall, and it is clear to all of us who can see: We are up against a handful of government leaders in positions of power who have been convinced that there is nothing wrong with GMOs. They our betting our future on what they feel is right. Others know our government is in deep financial peril. The money is being handed out by those who believe geneticallly engineered foods are good for business. Most of us already have too much on our plates to get beyond the headlines, I want to tell you this: There are very good people in Washington on the Organic Side. We have excellent leaders in Washington and throughout the Organic Industry. We have what it will take to reclaim our organic food supply.

DON'T BELIEVE EVERYTHING YOU READ ON THE INTERNET ABOUT OUR ORGANIC LEADERSHIP

There is a difference between what the internet tells us and who the game changers really are

Many people with heart have deep feelings against Monsanto. It is easy to imagine that our own team players are doing the wrong thing or that they could do more. In my position writing the Plant Your Dream blog, i have been taking photos of organic business leaders for more than a decade, I have looked into the eyes of organic leaders. I have heard them. They have heard me. I can only say, we have good people in leadership, and now is the time, to bury our differences, and pull together.

I have been with these leaders, and I will be with them again in a few weeks at the Natural Product Expo West March 7-March 11. Give our leaders the benefit of the doubt.

Any extra energy, time, and money we have needs to go toward the California ballot initiative to Label GMOs and toward winning our court cases against GMOs.

All together now.

This video was made at the panel called GMO Political Challenge and was made a few months after Organic Stakeholders met with USDA agriculture secretary Tom Villsack.

They were all calling for GMOs to be put in their place.

The spirit and energy of the Organic Stakeholders shined in this panel.

despite 30+ years of increasing growth and success, the organic industry finds itself at yet another crucial crossroads, given the new political and budget realities, as well as the recent decision on ge crops. this is a movement in which we will need to see the situation clearly and take action. we don’t all agree on every point, but we do a agree the need to come together to find some common ground.

NEEDS EDITING

THIS NEEDS EDITING BELOW!
WORK ON IT, LESLIE

i want to restate my case that i stated over and over through 2011. Jeffrey Smith, author of Seeds of Deception, the best selling book on putting GMOs out of the food chain, first used the term the tipping point in relationship to creating a tipping point against Monsanto.

The point he made was that if enough of us take a stand against GMO proliferation, we can drive Monsanto out of our lives.

i reframed this in 2011 to a bigger game...each of us need to be an Organic Uprising, standing up for nature's original technology.

You can read that and get the message in this video below, that is one of the few video documents capturing a bit of the gmo political challenge session at the natural product expo west 2011.

the organic stakeholders bleed organic; they are true blue

the men on the panel bled Organic. they are the primary sponsors of organic trade, and they are all doing their best in the business and political climate of 2012.

the divisiveness has nothing to do with who is right

i am sure there are going to be people who want to know why we are being asked just to label gmos, why are we not going further?

this is a political strategy. we have an opportunity here to get the public aware, and i guarantee you, those on the organic side, will be amazed at some of the pr that comes out regarding labeling, or backing genetically engineered foods.

attacking our front guard of the organic industry does not help

the men and women who are at the front guard of the organic industry are placed within the business climate where they are vulnerable to criticism.

i have been with these men and women who are the leaders of moving organic trade. they are good people.

keep our eye on the prize

pulling together now will lead this year to the passage in california of a bill to label gmos. the first step is getting it on the ballot through more than 800,000 signatures signing. the bill is scheduled to come off the california attorney general's deck february 15. the signature signing period will last ten weeks.

many forces are aligned to put Monsanto in its place in 2012

whole foods market has their 365 line in the non gmo project.

it is time now for all of us to create a tipping point to save our food supply.
if you are in California or want to help support the labeling of gmo foods here, donate to support the right 2 know labeling in california that kicks off february 15.

we all need to join together now in an organic uprising. whole foods market,
its shoppers, and management, and team leaders are clearly supporters of an Organic Uprising!
