SPRAINED ANKLE--WILL AMINO ACTIV HELP?

http://curezone.com/upload/Blogs/Your_Enchanted_Gardener/Sprained_Ankle_gets_Amino_Activ_Help.jpg

I was in touch today with Jason Wiggers who works for Vireosystems, the makers of AminoActiv. In recent weeks I have been dealing with severe pain. One of my housemates and my assistant, severely sprained her ankle. We are using some alternative treatments, such as clay and acupuncture that have helped, but the pain has been so severe that Oxycodine, a narcotic, and now, ibuprofen, has been her drugs of choice.

I had some StayActiv--around the house. This product and AminoActiv--I learned today--are available.

I am very concerned with Advil-a form of Ibuprofen. It has negative side effects. My assistant seems drawn to AminoActiv. I will keep you posted on our results. My goal will be to see if I can transition her off the more toxic drugs.

IS THERE A DIFFERENCE BETWEEN
MOTRIN,ADVIL,TYLENOL?

Frequently Asked Questions

Is there a difference between Advil, Motrin or Tylenol?

Yes. Advil and Motrin are the same medicine. They contain ibuprofen which is an anti-inflammatory medicine. It is one of the NSAID's. That stands for non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs. They interfere with some of the chemicals in our body that lead to inflammation (swelling and pain). They also reduce the ability for platelets to clot our blood. They are very helpful for pain from inflammation from recent or old injury, arthritis pain as well. Other examples include Alleve which is the same as Naprosyn. The active ingredient is naproxen. Tylenol has neither of these drugs as ingredients. Tylenol is made of pure acetaminophen. This has no anti-inflammatory properties. Acetominophen is an ingredient in several over the counter and prescription medicines (primarily pain relievers). It does help reduce mild to moderate pain (such as those caused by headaches or minor surgeries), and can also lower fevers. Even though these medicines are sold over the counter without prescription, you should heed the warnings on the label. If you have any serious medical conditions or take other prescription medicines, the you should consult your doctor before taking any of these.

WARNING INFORMATION FROM AMINO ACTIV SITE

NSAID Harms!
Ibuprofen and NSAIDs (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs, the class of drugs that ibuprofen and other COX-inhibitors are in) work great to reduce inflammation and pain but also:

COX-inhibitors slow down the rate of protein synthesis...which negatively effects muscle tissue repair

COX-inhibitors almost completely stop the function of tenocytes which are the cells in the body that produce packed, arrayed collagen...the material that becomes connective tissue, tendons, ligaments, etc.

COX-inhibitors impede bone re-calcification so are not good for fractures or bone healing

Dr. Bjorn Dimmen and Dr. Hakan Alfredson did research on these issues and a discussion on this work can be found at http://www.orthosupersite.com/view.aspx?rid=18588

COX-inhibitors increase oxidative stress...that is, they increase the presence of ROS (reactive oxygen species) which cause "chemical" damage to the body and negatively effect systemic inflammation. ROS are harmful to the body and are the molecules that "anti-oxidants" combat (which is why we areencouraged to have diets high in anti-oxidant rich foods).

Dr. Steven McAnulty did research on this and you can find info on his study at http://www.mendeley.com/research/effect-nsaid-muscle-injury-oxidative-stress-1/

COX-inhibitors are well known to cause G.I. ulcerations and stomach bleed if used frequently

COX-inhibitors are well know to be nephro-toxic. They are quite damaging to the renal cells of the body, and chronic use can result in enough kidney damage to require dialysis, and in some cases, kidney transplant.

WHAT IS AMINOACTIV?

FROM THE AMINO ACTIV WEBSITE

What is AminoActiv®?

The AminoActiv® product is based on common and natural molecules including Ethyl - (a-guanido-methyl) ethanoate — which is a blend of several amino acids. Individually, the amino acids do not have anti-inflammatory properties but, when synthesized in our Patent-Protected process, they together form a compound that expresses the same dose-related anti-inflammation effects as Ieading NSAID’s — like ibuprofen (a popular non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug).

The main difference is that AminoActiv® accomplishes its pain relief without side effects — such as stomach ulceration (gastro-intestinal bleeding) or toxicity to the liver or kidneys. Also, AminoActiv® will not slow down protein synthesis, inhibit COX pathways, or interfere with tenocyte functions as NSAID’s do — all are key to muscle, bone, tendon, and ligament repair and healing. AminoActiv additionally acts to prevent inflammation due to reactive oxygen species (ROS) and their detrimental effects on tissue.

Safety, toxicity, and necropsy studies were performed at a major university medical center with no negative side effects or contraindications observed — even when dosed at super-therapeutic levels (30x recommended dosage). This data was submitted to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) which granted allowance for the product to be offered to the OTC (over-the-counter) market.

With its potent, but safe blend of Ethyl - ( a-guanido-methyl) ethanoate and other homeopathic pain and inflammation extracts*, AminoActiv® has proven itself to be an effective, healthy, and natural alternative to many OTC and prescription pain-relieving drugs.

NOTE: Some athletic governing bodies limit the use of amino acids for student-athletes, but since AminoActiv® is NOT an aimino acid after synthesis is complete, it is fully compliant with doping control standards for clinical pain management use by sports medicine staff.

* Foeniculum vulgare extract is derived from the umbelliferous herb which belongs to the Apiaceae family. Bromeliaceae is an extract from the Ananas comosus flowering monocot plant.
AminoActiv® is a homeopathic analgesic.

ARTICLE ON AMINOACTIV

FROM LIVE WELL MAGAZINE

First, it's all-natural. Researchers Jonathan Vennerstrom and Dennis Robinson based AminoActiv on three naturally occurring amino acids, which UNMC has patented under the trade name AlphaGEE.
Alpha-Gee, the active ingredient, includes natural substances that aid the body's ability to repair itself.
“This is the opposite of NSAIDS and analgesics. Although they mask pain temporarily, they also can inhibit the body's ability to heal itself," Vennerstrom said. "That's because they slow the bone recalcification, oxidation and protein synthesis necessary for building and maintaining muscle and bone strength and impede the production of collagen, which promotes tendon, ligament and joint health.
“Issues with bones, muscles and joints are the three leading causes of pain, and AminoActiv can be used to treat a wide array of conditions. Robinson said there is considerable anecdotal evidence that it helps to relieve pain associated with several neuromuscular diseases such as post polio syndrome, fibromyalgia, arthritis, migraines and multiple sclerosis and can be used for back pain and plantar fasciitis (a painful foot condition frequently experienced by runners).” Vennerstrom added, “It even seems to reduce varicose veins.”
Vennerstrom has experienced AminoActiv's healing properties first-hand.

Accordingly, both UNMC scientists are excited about the product's introduction to the public. “The applications can be huge,” Robinson said.

Mark Faulkner, president of Vireo Systems Inc., located in Madison, Tenn., oversees AminoActiv's marketing, business development, manufacturing and packaging. He explained why the applications are significant.
“Baby boomers want to remain active, but they experience nagging, chronic pain,” he said.
This can affect personal finances.
“After antibiotics, the second-most-prescribed medications in the U.S. are written for pain. It's a $35 billion industry,” he said. “The key part of AminoActiv is that it costs about $25 — as much as a co-pay.”
The final, perhaps most important, benefit of using AminoActiv?
Because it's natural, there are no problems with addiction or toxicity. That means it relieves pain without the side effects linked to over-the-counter and prescription drugs. For example, sustained use of acetaminophen can cause liver damage, while ibuprofen can similarly affect the kidneys.
