Create a Jospel (Jewish Gospel) Choir !
The word "Shir" means song in Hebrew. The idea behind "Shir Ecstasy"
is to learn to be able to ascend together through the medium of song to reach that rapturous state
where one can viscerally sense the presence of God. Sharon's gift
is to bring people of all vocal talents together to sing joyously together.
Sharon creates spectacular Jewish Gospel choirs. You can see an example in a

Shir Ecstasy!
Sharon Alexander has spent 30 years at the forefront
of the Jewish Renewal Movement, as a choir leader, community organizer,
teacher, vocalist, and visionary. Since 2003 she has been researching the
use of gospel choir techniques, and teaching them to Jewish choirs. Ordained
by Rabbi Zalman Schachter-Shalomi as a Ba’alat Shirei Hama’alot B’chesed Elyon (Leader of Sacred Chorales),
currently she is completing her doctorate in Ethnomusicology at the University of Bern, Switzerland.
Sharon Alexander is fulfilling a bold and important mission to recover
the joyful aliveness and religious ecstasy that we were designed to experience in our congregational worship.--

This video tells the story of my return to the ALEPH Kallah 2011, in early July
to help inspire a New Sacred Food Project. It is the story of meeting my old
ally Sharon Alexander Dreyfus who I had not seen since 1997.
ALEPH stands for Alliance for Jewish Renewal.
I had not been to an ALEPH Kallah gathering since 1997,
My spirit wanted me to come back in order to
reinvigorate a Sacred Food Project within ALEPH
and for all people.
In order to come back, I had to heal some
of my original Pain Work that happened in a Jewish context
and was triggered by my earlier participation in ALEPH.
