We NEED TO POLICE OUR OWN!!!!!
laws were broken
but the FDA did not have jurisdiction in this case.
PERMITS NEEDED?
Ventura County farmer Sharon Ann Palmer, her employee Eugenie Bloch and James Stewart, who runs Rawesome Foods in Venice were arrested Wednesday and charged with conspiracy and other crimes in a 13-count complaint filed by the Los Angeles County District Attorney's office.
Arraignments were scheduled for Bloch and Stewart on Thursday; an arraignment hearing has not been set for Palmer.
Prosecutors alleged that Palmer, 51, has run Healthy Family Farms in Santa Paula since 2007 without any type of business license or permit showing her animals and equipment were safe. They claimed that she, Bloch and Stewart assisted in the farm's operation and the distribution of its milk, dairy and egg products, many of which were sold at Rawesome.
While it's legal to make and sell unpasteurized dairy products in California, farms must have licenses and permits and submit to regular veterinarian inspections of the animals as well as follow equipment and sanitation requirements.
IS IT A CONTROL ISSUE?
A volunteer at Rawesome said inspectors took samples of food products during the June 2010 raid, but on Wednesday officers who served a search warrant at the market Wednesday dumped all dairy products and confiscated cash from the register.
"It seems highly aggressive considering how tiny we are and for what we're actually doing," Joanne Whittle said. "We're not selling crack cocaine or drugs or alcohol."
She said Rawesome is made up of private members who signed legal forms agreeing to purchase food products that have not met government standards.
"I guess that's their bone of contention, that they can't control us," Whittle said.

RAW MILK PRODUCERS PLEASE NOTE:
The FDA and State Agencies have discovered this list and sometimes use it for their own purposes, so exercise caution with your listing. If you choose not to have a listing, make sure your local WAPF Chapter Leader has your name for referrals.
USDA, FDA and STATE AG AGENCIES PLEASE NOTE:
Raw milk is Nature’s perfect food and is extremely important for the developing brains and nervous systems of infants and children. Furthermore, in many children not fortunate enough to have started life on raw milk, raw milk given later in childhood has cured autism, behavior problems, frequent infections, deafness, asthma and allergies and other serious health conditions. Please bear in mind that any move you make to stop or hinder a raw dairy operation will actually HARM, not help the infants and children who rely on that milk, and may make it difficult for all children to obtain this milk in the future--including your own children and grandchildren. An interruption in supply can be VERY detrimental to a growing infant or sick child who has no other options. Read for yourself at

If you are concerned about safety, rest assured. In the farm-to-consumer distribution model, the farmer receives timely and relevant feedback directly from the customers, something that farmers selling bulk milk never receive. Raw milk is actually the safest food around with so much consumer oversight and also with an extremely efficient built-in anti-pathogen mechanism! If you are concerned about rules, then consider investing the same amount of time you’d spend persecuting a raw milk farmer into advocating for supportive raw milk legislation.
