The word spirituality is often interchanged with the words faith and religion.  Though they are interrelated, the terms have very different meanings.  This article will specifically focus on what it means to embrace spirituality and the many positive  attributes of living a life that is spiritually based.

Spirituality is a subjective and individual belief system.  It's the uncharted path we take to seek out the true essence of our being, the meaning of life, and our core values.   Through spirituality we are given a well-spring of inspiration so that we may consciously search for inner peace, overall well-being, and develop our foundation for happiness. This foundation is also the source of our morality and pureness of heart.  The spiritual dimension, the ultimate reality, is where our beliefs, our intellect, and our desires are influenced.

Spirituality is a connection to a spiritual world while living in a physical world. It is the appreciation of the awe and mystery of life; the connection to the source of all that exists, the energy that gives us life.  This ultimate reality is an intangible connection to a vast, divine realm; an unseen force, energy, or spirit.   It is the search for that which is unordinary and reverent, a search for and creation of a more intimate connection for God, a Higher Power, or the Universe.  Spirituality is the divine spark inside of us; our inner spirit and a higher source of awareness.

Through spirituality we are harmoniously connected with mankind and the physical world around us, because spirituality is the interchange that collectively exists between everyone and everything.  When we have a spiritual center, the serenity we feel inside shines outward in the form of the love, joy, and compassion we are able to give others.

Living a spiritual life means being truthful to our inner self and absolutely truthful in all affairs of life.  Our spiritual center is where we consciously create the changes we hope for.  It is our inner growth and its outward projection.  Our interpretation of life becomes the reality of our life. We awaken from just being, and become aware of the infinite possibilities and opportunities in store for us. When we embrace spirituality, the words “blame” and “victim” are not in our vocabulary. We accept that we are accountable for our realities, and we take responsibility for the way we experience life.

Our spiritual roots are where our life gets its nourishment.  It is our infinite source of the love, happiness, and serenity that we all deeply desire.   Through spirituality we gain an outlook that best benefits our life.  As we live our life with intention, we grow, learn, and evolve our souls.
