A SERIOUS EDUCATION IS NEEDED
ABOUT PESTICIDES AND GMO'S

This story in USA TODAY
June 13, 2011
By Janice Lloyd, USA TODAY
Points out the serious need for education
about Pesticides and GMO's

The story talks about 12 dirty foods.
The majority of the comments poo poo the story.
There are a couple Organic leaning responses.

No one even picks up on the sentence
that corn is recommended as a way to avoid
the pesticides.

There is a need now to educate about
GMO's and get them labeled.

Meanwhile I have been spending about
40 hours writing about issues that
seem misinformation and disinformation
with the Organic Ranks.

We better slow down and see who the real targets
are. They are not the Organic Trade Association.

If this story reflects a widspread acceptance
of pesticide use.

There is no mention of GMO dangers.

The Environmental Working Group
has not yet caught up to the need to
inform about the dangers of GMO's.

FROM THE STORY
ABOUT THE DIRTY DOZEN

"For shoppers who cannot afford organic food, which often is more expensive, Cook says the lists offer alternatives. Can't find organic apples? Buy pineapples, the top fruit on the clean list, or avocados or mangoes.
Fewer than 10% of pineapple, mango and avocado samples showed pesticides. For vegetables, asparagus, corn and onions had no detectable residue on 90% or more of samples."

this journalist is not providing any news, or presenting any sorty of balanced set of facts. e.g., use of the word "contaminated" implies something happened which is unexpected. chemicals are required to produce apples. i'm going out to buy the biggest, most insectiside-a-licious apples i can find just to give the apple farmers a thumbs-up and provide some counterbalance here.

MEANWHILE THE ORGANIC INDUSTRY
IS SUBJECT TO SOME GREAT INFIGHTING RIGHT NOW
