The environmental benefit that qualifies this program, product or design for an award:

The Cultivating Food Justice Event April 9-10 was an outstanding collaborative effort of a planning committee of individuals and groups that helped create a highly successful
4th Cultivating Food Justice Event in San Diego.

This event was attended by more than 500 and impacted the community of City Heights. It was held in five venues over the City Heights, including the amazing Aquponics Center on Fairmount St, run by the International Rescue Committee. More than 60 volunteers helped the days of the event and many, many hours went into the planning of this two day
event that had many workshops that were all volunteered.

I came away personally with a profound sense of a mandate to grow more food. Many individual lives and the community were impacted.

City Heights is one of ten cities splitting 100 million from the California Endowment
over ten years. This is the fourth event to occur. The Conference/Event moves
from location to location is becoming an annual event in San Diego.
