I do not like not being able to see
documents when the Legislators are seeing them!
How about teaching us how to see what you
are looking at?\, dear legislators.

KEEP THE BEET GETS HELP FROM
YOUR ENCHANTED GARDENER
AND LESLIE TO DRAFT HER NEXT COLUMN
FOR SPACE OF LOVE MAGAZINE

Earlier this morning...
December 18, 2010
between 5-6 am
Howdy,Keep the Beet here.
You are welcome.
Thanks for saying thanks.
I'll expect a check in the mail.

That's how If felt watching
the proceedingsday of the FDA Food Safety Modernization Act
that seemed to die an unfulfilling death
December 17, 2010.

So where was the big party?
So where was the news story on T.V.
about how the bill, so long touted,
went down to defeat and why?
The bill was really never on the radar
of most people, nor did the people
we elected treat the issues with
very much respect. There really
wasn't any official conversation.
It was as if there was something
clandestine about the whole FDA
Food Safety Modernization Act.

Where was the debate?
Every time I turned my beet around
it seemed like there was one ore move
to hide the real issues, or hide the bill
as if it was a needle in a haystack.

Where was the outcry? Where was
the public screaming that Food is Medicine,
and that a really bad affront was happening
every time this bill was discussed?
This bill was more than about the many kids,
teens, moms and pops were get sick on
food. It was about the meaning of food itself
and pointed out how little we value what food
is here to do for us.

It was a mistake to imaging that this bill
died simply because the Senate made a snafu,
or died because one or more Senators or House Reps stood
up against it. There was a massive outcry against
#S-510. This is a newsworthy event,
to tell the story of the many factions
of American life who came together because
their felt something was rotten here, and it
was more than just an issue of too much
Salmonella.

There was a broken system that was rotten here,
and the stink cannot be cleanup with with
chemistry, or engineered technology.

The whole process from inception to final bleep
needs to be told, and there needs to be a cleanup job.
This bill made it clear that many of us feel left out
and unheard. Washington and others unseen
are attempted to shove stuff down our throat,
and we will no longer let this happen.

The bottomline of the failure of this bill should not
be about money saved or not spent in behalf of Safer Food.
The bottomline for me your beet, is that this bill,
The Food Safety Modernization Act, signaled a moment
when America the Beautiful rose up to begin its
journey again to letting people in on government participation,
and fully hearing all of our voices.

My personal favorite technology is Nature's Original Technology
of good air, soll, sun, water, soul, and seeds. I, have taught
Leslie well. When you plant a seed, you can grow a whole new world.
Washington, and leaders around the world need to get this.
Seeds are magical. THey are enchanted.

Most people today, including the elected reps in the US,
are living on minimal life support.

Back in 1936, my friend Dr. Charles Northern, M.D.
had one of his papers read into the Congressional Record.
It was called Senate Document...(get number in morning).
The document said that no matter how many fruits and veggies
at person would eat, they could have get enough micronutrients.
They were seeing that even in 1936, our food supply was not
as good as it had been in previous generations.

Just imagine what the eats are like now? When I was a beet
seed back in 1936, kids in school were taught how to cook.
This was taught home economics. Today, there is a great comeback
of gardens in many schools. We also need to give our kids
back their chef hat. Most Legislators today imagine that it's
O.K. the people do not know how to grow their own food.
They imagine that the nations of the world are doing their
job by allowing food to be a seen as a commodity rather than
for what it is: Dream Come True material. That's right.
That's what Plant Your Dream is all about.

Truly, as Anastasia learned from me when she was a little girl
in Siberia, you can take a Seed and grow a whole new world.

Leslie has warn himself thin got mot
