Dianna Harbin, Certified Tea Specialist just told me about the work she is doing with Tea in California. This is a blog about her activiities and upcoming events in San Diego, San Francisco, and Los Angeles. Next year, on May 8th 2011, she is organizing a world wide Tea appreciation Day. "After water, tea is the most consumed beverage in the world. Recent research is proving the health benefits of tea," She tells me, "Drinking tea with others builds community."

Took a nap. Dianna Harbin is over.
She has been writing away and created this wonderful
list describing her activities.
BRIEF BIO NOTE:
My passion is community-building through tea. I write for the tching.com tea blog. I am aTeaUSA STI Certified Tea Specialist. I took the 2008 New Business Bootcamp at the Las Vegas World Tea Expo and hope to have my own tea business someday.
Dianna Harbin Tea Events:
Dianna has started three free membership Meetup.com tea groups to help people learn about tea, create community through tea and support local tea businesses. She uses online social networking to facilitate face-to-face interactions with tea themes.
Her “Tea Appreciation Day” concept is explained in her T Ching tea blog posting at http://www.tching.com/2010/07/3096/.
She is using Meetup Everywhere to organize an annual worldwide event to honor Camellia sinensis and all those who work so hard to bring this versatile, labor-intensive wonder to our tables and to our awareness. Local events are posted on a world map just to document participation but all events are planned and executed on the local level by local organizers. Sign up as an organizer or as a participant want a local organizer to step forward.

Dianna Harbin Tea Blog Postings:
On tching.com:
“How to Heat Water for Tea”
http://www.tching.com/2010/05/how-to-heat-water-for-tea/
Excerpt:
“I set out to write a post on something simple - but under-represented - in writings about tea preparation. It is easy to find instructions and opinions on tea-making. The types of water one should use, steeping temperatures and timing, the proportions of tea to water, and the type of steeping vessel to use are elaborated upon in every general-purpose book about tea. What I was not finding was much information about something so basic that it gets overlooked - what is the best way to heat water for tea? Specifically, what are the relative merits of the various heat sources that can be used?”

Excerpt:
“I have come up with a concept. It isn’t unique or even entirely original, but it is certainly bold. And why not be bold? Don’t a lot of great things happen that way? I’ve decided to promote an annual worldwide event to honor Camellia sinensis and all those who work so hard to bring this versatile, labor-intensive wonder to our tables and to our awareness. The first event will be May 8, 2011. This post is about the process of “creating” this special day.
