Urban Shaman, Leslile Goldman, communes with God
in his Magic Garden, coaxing healing from herbs and plants
and writes verse blossoms that lift the heart, touch the soul
and somehow gladden the wounded spirit weeping in us."

"When I hear you, I hear the prophets, their words,
their teachings, their passion, flowing through you,
speaking through you. You, you are not their mouthpiece.
YOu are their mouth, a living wholly human person.
Your words, your poems, intuitively, inherently speak
an old new voice from deep within our tradition and our faith.
YOu have your very personal dialogue with God,
and touch the deeply personal in each of us."

Eve,
A youth who just graduated from college,
someone I knew since he was a little boy
is living in my house now.
He helped me set up a scanner.
I am able to translate some images to digital.
The weather is San Diego is very cool
in sync with some gardening we did on Saturday
that uprooted a dream I had rooted.
I did not defend the patch that was uprooted.
There was a lot of overgrowth in our front yard.
I wanted to see it cut back, but I did not find the
strength in me to defend the patch where
soul connects in with the soil.
I am feeling very unrooted
in this summer of shift.
I find myself weeping
and feeling gratitude as I go through these archives.
I have lived a very inspired life.
It has been such an honor to serve.
I feel like a turtle.
I want to condense things.
I cannot say how much longer I am going to hold this ground
here where I live.
I cannot say what the future holds,
only that I want to live the truth.
There is so much I have written.
There is so much that can show a way
to a possible future where we can have 1000 years of peace.
I feel I have done my job.
I have been blessed to live in this place
that I can the Enchanted Garden.
Like you I am a storyteller.
Each day is so precious.
We cannot say where we will find ourselves.
I am so grateful that we finally connected at a deeper level.
You helped plant 1000 years of peace.
I want to say thank you at this time.
Leslie

Dear Leslie,
You have always been one of those folks
out there on the fragile growing edge of things,
sniffing way ahead of most of us.
And you have had the courage to be quirky
and insistent, and to proceed even when you weren't understood.
I choose to believe that what you have already planted in this world
---in the earth, or in people's hearts--
will quietly take root, and perhaps go unnoticed for long enough
to really dig in without provoking opposition,
and therefore acquire depth and strength to burgeon forth.
Thank you for your generosity,
for all you do, and for persevering even when it's been lonely.
You have been seen and appreciated;
please forgive me for not letting you know sooner.
Warmly,
Eve
