I want to followup on an opportunity
to get samples of Biosmart Sustainability packaging
and natural Sugar Cane Bagasse takeout into
the hands of the Director of Sustainability
at the University of San Diego.

I met Michael Catanzaro, the university’s director of sustainability,
at the Very Important Planet (VIP) Reception
in March 2010.

Michael Catanzaro, the university of San Diego's
director of sustainability was introduced to Biosmart
sustainable packaging made of natural sugar cane bagasse
at the Very Important Planet Reception sponsored by
Earthworks, creator of the San Diego Earth Fair.
The event was held at the City of San Diego
Environmental Services headquarters.

Michael Catanzaro, the university’s director of sustainability, said he is happy with the direction the university is moving and wants to continue raising awareness of its efforts. Catanzaro is developing a strategic plan for sustainability. He’s also enhancing opportunities through outreach partnerships with the city of San Diego and in Linda Vista, wants to provide “green job” internships through a local foundation and is working with USD’s Center for Community Service-Learning on a project.
He was heartened by a recent e-mail survey put together through USD’s partnership with San Diego Gas and Electric Company, to provide information and seek a conservation commitment from campus community members. He received more than 1,100 survey responses.
“The feedback we got was extraordinary,” he said. “It was inspirational and people expressed how much pride they have and how happy they are about what we’re doing,” he said. “It’s great to see that people care.”
