10 affirmations

Date:   5/28/2010 12:14:09 PM ( 14 y ago)

* I am home and it is in that gratitude I choose to operate out of this afternoon. I am so grateful to be home. One year ago I was in a huge city, the most heartless one in the world: Las Vegas.

* I put on MmmmBop by those little pop boys Hanson. I can remember my young boy and I jumping around the living room when he was 9. That life with Trace, that love we shared for one another still lives and is still what inspires me.

* I am blessed. G*d does not reveal His plan. I take such comfort in knowing that I AM living His will for me. How do I know? This is where I raised my boy, this is where my heart lives. I am surrounded by his memories, by good people, by the mountains.

* I have 10 days off this coming week. I am so fortunate that I can choose to live a balanced, quiet, country life. I can be a tourist in this beautiful state full of covered bridges, country stores, road side streams and mountain paths.

* I have my health and sanity today. One year ago I was just 4 months sober, still shaking and mind still racing out of control.

* I have a faith today and all I have to do is look to deepen it for true comfort. One year ago I did not believe in G*d as deeply as I do now. I have the ultimate 'mentor'.

* I can choose to live outside of my box today, this week. Canada is only an hour away - I can go see what they're doing for a day. I can see that the world is so much bigger than my focus on my grief.

* Number 8. Affirmation. I am a valuable employee today. I have been with the same employer for almost one full year. I worked my way up from scrubbing toilets to legal contracts. Not bad. I am moving in the right direction.

* Number 9. I care about people today a bit more deeply than I did last year at this time. I see how we all have broken hearts and we are all equal in G*d's eyes. G*d did not 'punish' me by taking my son. That's just life on life's terms. People are just like me and I am like them.

* Number 10. Are any of these affirmations? Keep going. I will choose to go brush my teeth. I have all of them and I am very grateful for that. Even the molars. I will say 'thank you for my teeth' when I brush them. I will feel better and look better. How fortunate am I? Very.
