The visit of First Lady Michelle Obama
has energetically put another focus on the
2010 Cultivating Food Justice Conference
that will happen next weekend at SDSU.

Amy Lint, the coordinator of the IRC New Roots
Farm has her photo is all over the nation now
She is one of our workshop leaders.

Here is one article for the Huffington Post.

One quote:

FIRST LADY MICHELE OBAMA ON THE
NEW ROOTS FARM, as quote on the IRC website.

She said, "the world is watching what is going on
on this plot of land. You are truly doing phenomenal work".
She also said that the refugee farmers are making a healthier life for their children.

This is some writing I did today.

First Lady Michelle Obama kicked off
an extended Earth Week with her visit to the New Roots Community Farm on Tax Day, April 15, 2010.

Events continue through Sunday when more than 70,000 are expected in Balboa Park.
SDSU will feature week long Green Fest daily activities, including fabulous Earth Day Activities April 22. Many other Earth Week activities will be held all over town.

The week will culminate at SDSU, with the 2010 Cultivating Food Justice Conference April 24-25.

In this brief video, Mariah Hudson, Assistant Director, Center for Regional Sustainability at San Diego State University, shares about the conference.

This video was made April 15 as many people received invites to the SDSU event while waiting for the First Lady to arrive. Michelle choose San Diego to give her message, "Let's Move!' She is taking on one of the US top Food issues, solving childhood obestity through exercise and eating more healthy food.

Many plan to be there April 24-25.

Alert! There are only 500 seats to see keynote Raj Patel. Patel, a best selling author of "Stuffed and Starved" and "The Value of Nothing" delivers on the ground reports from Africa, India, and South America. Some of those very same farmers have now found refuge at the IRC New Roots Community Farm in San Diego.

""The world is watching what is going on on this plot of land," said the mother of two who eats organic food in the White House.
