Howdy! Keep the Beet Media Star here, The World's First Talking Beet Plant.
How's your beat with nature? These are certainly exciting times to be your Czarina of Foods, let me tell you. As I right this, I have my attention on the Hill, that's what I call Washington D.C. I have been getting various invites lately to travel, but I am waiting for Leslie, Your Enchanted Gardener's health to improve a bit more before I ask him to start taking me on plane rides.
I am a Super Bowl Fan, and have in mind to be on the stage next year
at the Half time Music show. There are lots of groups right now who really
keep the beat. I am asking all the top music groups to join my contest to write me some beet songs to go along with Leslie when he does his Root Your Dream Work. So if you have a song, just send it our way here at the "Space of Love" Magazine. Back to the point! There is a man who use to be a Football coach that drives around the country in a Big RV.
He doesn't like to be off the ground either! Maybe,
Leslie and I will be going for some long trips now
that we have a new engine in the E.G. Mobile, our 68 VW Van.
Right now on the Hill, there is a lot of talk behind the scenes regarding Food Safety. Michelle really got things going when she planted a beet seed in
her hubby's ear! She wanted the White House Garden to be organic! Yikes,
this really caused a stir with my friends who work for CropLife, one of my favorite Biotech companies. They got really upset! They wanted the garden to be less organic. When Michelle went to Russia last year, can you guess who was more popular, her or the hubby? My friends in Russia are gardeners, so of course, the Mrs. got more press than Mr.Obama.
I can't wait for the new Food Safety Moderization Act, # S-510 to pass the Senate. Some people do not realize that it will bring the U.S. into harmony with the Codex Alimentarius Commission, the group that has been coming up with our Food Rules since 1963. As your Czarina of Foods, let me tell you, it's a great thing that all the nations of the world are coming in step
with the Codex!!!! One of their thoughts is that the best way to cure a tummy ache is to take a drug. So if you have any spare change, I highly recommend that you make friends on Wall Street right now, and buy some stock in Big Pharmaceutic company, especially those that are loved by my friends at Monsanto Company.
Whoa! I'll bet some of you are saying right now that Keep the Beet, your beet growing in a pot, has gone to pot, so to speak. Here is my thinking. With the passage of this Food Safety Modernization Act, The FDA is going to be given all kinds of new powers. They are going to be hiring lots of new agents to enforce Food Safety. OF course, we all know that true Food Safety comes from growing your own food and being on a first-name basis with your local Joe The Farmer.
The Food and Drug Admin (FDA) is in direct alignment with the Codex. They
are pushing for the US Laws to get in sync with the international Food Rules.
Much of the Research that The FDA now enforces is all paid for by the Big
Pharma companies. Here is one of my beatitudes that I made up eons ago.
Do not bite the hand that feeds you! That is why the FDA in in the hip pocket of Big Pharma and leans toward enforcing what an approach to health that favors spending fortunes on drugs. Until recently the Good Folks at the FDA never had enough money to do their own research. Now with the FDA getting more power to come to all the local Farmers' Markets, they are going to be be having more contact with the people of the world who call what we eat real food. The science behind the FDA currently says that they cannot
tell the difference between food grown with pesticides and organic food, food grown without pesticides.
Everyone knows that people who shop the Farmers Markets are the healtiest
in the world! You can tell that by their sex appeal and friendliness. What would you expect from people who are in the farm bed with their very own grower. How more safe can you be than that? A farmer who eats his own food and grows food just for you is bound to have food safe for all living things.
So here is my logic! When the Food Safety enforcement agents come to your local market, be sure to introduce them to your favorite organic farmers. Give them some food. Some of these agents are charity cases
already from buying into the Law of the Land that says what you eat makes little difference and that whatever goes wrong, there is always a drug to fix it.
Michelle, on the other hand, is very concerned right now that there are so many overweight kids and mom's and pops with diabetes. This all goes back to our Department of Ag wanting to help the Big Farmers who could not stay
in business without a billion or more of our pocket change. My friend Paj Patel, one of my favorite teachers on the Global Food Crisis and I were talking the other day. He says that the real cost of a hamburger is $200.00 when you add in the cost of oil, and harm to the people who are touching
antibiotics all day. Cows love antibiotics. It keeps the big farmers in business. There is a growing problem. The farmers who eat
factory farm meats and touch meat with antibiotics keep needing stronger and stronger superdrugs so they can stay out of the hospital. If you want to understand this better, go see my favorite movie, :"Food Inc."
So here is my bottomline! The Bank of Compost is the only investment
that is worth having on Wall Street. People are getting smart from eating
too much local organic food and feeding their kids the way that Michelle
is doing. Before long, the FDA is going to start eating local and organic
from all that contact with the local, organic farmers they will be getting
to know at the Farmers' Markets. Next thing you know, the FDA is going
to start following nature's Law of the Land, the way I, your Favorite beet, likes it--organic and as fresh as food can be.
Can you see the writing on the wall? The FDA goes local and organic.
People start using Food as Medicine, Big Pharma loses money, and the Codex starts harmonizing with me, your beet.
I can't wait to get my passport to travel! The Codex Tribe, are Food Rule
makers, will be inviting me to speak on organic before the world goes totally bankrupt. We will all be singing happy days are here again when that happens. So relax, fellow Beet Keepers. if you can't beet them, join them.
Q and A from my emailbox at PlantYourDeaam@cox.net:
My beloved beet, I have been keeping the beet for more than a year now.
My entire life shifted the day I got a beet from my local organic farmer, repotted it, and starting eating my very own salad greens. but what do I do now???? My beet the second year put up a five-foot stalk that has given me hundreds of seeds I have little beet seeds everywhere!
What should I do with all my beet seeds, Keep the beet?
A: The answer is simple. Just join officially Beet Keepers, Return! my global movement! Knock on the door of your neighbors. Give them beets, and share with them my previous columns from the "Space of Love" magazine.
The Beet just naturally goes on, as the song goes.

Leslie!
Hi, Dear! Just got back from Siberia and working today until now, late, but had a chance to look at your column and make some slight changes. (Remember, we have a lot of English-as-a-second-language readers all over the world, and so I clarified some of the humor and innuendo, because I myself didn't quite get whether you did or didn't support the Codex in some places.) Otherwise it's great! I love it! Hope Yuri agrees. I am leaving right now again for three days (Oh, this is hard on my poor bones after 8 flights and two 9-hour train-rides in Siberia!!), but I can't seem to mail it to you. (I made careful edits so you can see the slight changes.) If I can figure out what's wrong with this darn program, I will mail it to Yuri before I leave to make sure we have the space for you reserved.
Also, I changed things like the "California greeting" at the beginning, because it has no meaning to our British, South African, Australian and other English-speaking readers. They wouldn't understand the funny grammar. (Just said "How've you been?" instead. Hope that's O.K.)
Thanks for making such a great effort, Leslie. I hope we don't have to cut it too much to get it in!! It IS long.
HUGS for now!
Regina : ))
