SMALL BEGINNINGS, GREATER ENDS

Organic Food Day at Disneyland began
March 15, 2010. I began it. I ate lunch there.
I am seeing and seeding an annual event,
in celebration of the
Natural Product Expo West coming to Anaheim.

Representatives of the $23 Biilion
a year organic trade come to Anaheim
each year. The natural product industry
as a whole generates more than $96 Billion
a year.

The Anaheim Convention Center
is located within walking distance
of Disneyland.

The Theme Park will have an an Organic Day
predicts Your Enchanted Gardener.
I know Walt Disney would be behind
such an idea.

The growing annual event, began
Organic Day at Disneyland, began on
the 30th Anniverary
of the Natural Produce Expo West in Mickey Mouse's favorite city.

I had a vision of this event the Saturday morning
March 13, before I wrote this blog.

ORIGINAL VISION

I saw myself walking down Main Street in Disneyland.
Walking with my cart I call a special parade down Main street.
Featured in the parade would be KEEP The BEET Media Star,
The World's First Talking Beet Plant,
who has been a personal admirer of the
world's most famous mouse for many years.

"Walt Disney is a hero of mine," said tne noted
beet, who welcomes being invited onto the
Organic Center Board of Directors.

Monday, December 15, I went to Disneyland.

The day began adding some natural foods to
the breakfast faire at the Super 8 Motel,
around the corner from Disneyland. I will blog
on that. It was an incredible healing moment.

Then, I called Disney's Public Relations and requested
a Press Pass. I got a call back. Heather told
me the normal time to request a press pass is five days.
I explained the idea that I wanted to initiate. I referred
a draft of this blog to Heather. She was confused by
what I was saying. It is not normal for someone to announce
an event happening especially a parade down Main Street.

In my mind I did not have anything big in mind for Monday,
March 15, 2010,
the day after the Natural Product Expo West. I
wanted to experience coming into the park and walking
with my cart and Keep the Beet. That to me was the extend
of the first parade down Main Street that I had in mind.

I explained the idea of wanting to collaborate with
Disney to create an organic day. Heather said she would
forward my email to others. I am sure we will have more
contact.

I did not hear back from her by the time I checked
out of the Super 8. I decided to go to the Admin building
and see if I could talk to the appropriate person about my idea.
That began an incredible Disney Adventure.

I will write about my adventure later.

I did go to Downtown Disney, and bring in
organic food. I did celebrate Organic Day.

The employees at Disney resort are called Cast members.
I made a great connection.

At Jamba Juice, inside Downtown Disney,
I had an organic wheatgrass juice. I had some with
the picnic I brought in.

I see myself returning and making my return an
annual event. I planted the dream with seeds
that the idea will grow.

Organic Day at Downtown Disney will begin
each year with Keep the Beet, and friends
having a picnic each year.

I will be in touch with Disney Admin with a list
of organic foods and vendors I will recommend
for organic day as the concept expands.

I would have paid to go in today to Disneyland,
but I only had a couple hours. I fulfilled my purpose.

DID I INSPIRE THE ORGANIC GARDEN
AT DISNEYWORLD????

A new friend, who is a cast member, was very much
enthusiastic about organic gardening and healthy living.
She has a wheatgrass every day and works in
Downtown Disney.

She told me that there was an organic garden at Disneyworld
Florida. She suggested I go there.

I got chills when I heard that there was an organic garden
at Disneyworld. There was no organic garden there in 2001
when I Disney Horticulture staff helped me create an
Enchanted Garden that year at the Disney Hilton

I had a large selection of organic seeds
from the Seeds of Change company
with me in 2001. I gave some organic seeds
to a Disney Staff members in the
closing ceremony of the International Feng Shui conference.

I was part of that closing ceremony. The following day,
I was invited to go to Disneyworld. I chose to go to
Epcot Center. I had a private tour. Taking
photos inside was not an issue. I also met with the
staff of the horticulture department. I left a copy
of my book, "Plant Your Dream," with the staff.

I made a number of friends and appreciated
the reception I received.

One staff member joined The Enchanted Garden
Club, my network. That whole adventure was incredible.
I left lots of packages of organic seeds
with the horticulture department. Today was the first I heard
that there was an organic garden there.

I want to find out more about this garden and how it came to be.

I know that way I approach creating and planting dreams
is out the norm. It is grounded in practices that are time tested. It does not phase me that my idea today
may need for cultivation.

I do not make up ideas. I simple hear them and take
steps to serve humanity as I am asked.

After I had my picnic today. I went over to a wishing
well about fifteen feet away. I brought Keep The Beet
and used the Jambo Juice container, the container
that held the wheatgrass, to water my plant that
now had seeds in it. As I did this. A bird came
by, and landed on the wishing well. I took that photo.
Then another bird flew by and drank.

I placed a few sacred herbs in the water rather
than tossing in a penny.

There is more to tell about this adventure.
Time for rest.

I achieved my purpose. March 15 was Organic Day at
Disney.

FROM THE ORIGINAL DRAFT
THAT I SEND TO HEATHER
OF THE PR DEPARTMENT

I CORRECTED A FEW TYPOS
and EDITED ONE PARAGRAPH

Leslie Goldman, Your Enchanted Gardener,
was welcomed to tour Epcot Center before opening
hours back in 2001. He met with the horticulture department. Disney staff helped create a very magical Enchanted Garden Installation at the Disney Hilton that year.

"I was going into surgery for hip replacement.
I committed to do an Enchanted Garden Installation
at the 2001 International Feng Shui Conference.
By the time of the event, I was having hip pain
and could not even carry one plant myself."

I called the Disney folks. I was 3000 miles away
in San Diego. How was going to create an Enchanted Garden
in Florida? The Disney folks sent staff.
They brought an enormous roomful of trees and plants.
In the closing ceremony I honored one Disney employee
who came to help with the teardown. I gave him
Seeds of Change. More Seeds of Change were a gift
to the Disney Horticulture department. For now,
I am just happy to enjoy the Magic Kingdom,
bring in some organic foods from the Natural Product Expo West, and eat them on site.

My first trip to Disneyland was in 1954, the year the park
opened. I loved Spin and Marty. Annette was my favorite
mouseteer. I watched the Mickey Mouse Show every day when
I was a kid, and have always loved Walt Disney. I considere
him one of the greatest Enchanted Gardeners
that has ever lived.

When I visited California Adventure back in 2000, I was
a guest of one of the staff members.

Today, I will likely go in as Press.

Heather told me that they like to know five days
in advance with a Press Request.

ARE ORGANIC FOODS AVAILABLE AT DISNEY RESORT?

Are organic products available?

Organic products that meet the USDA′s food standards are not widely available at Walt Disney World Resort. We are always trying to improve upon our existing product line of traditional and organic food offerings. Our food procurement standards include a vendor approval process that is designed to consistently acquire high-quality products. Introducing a new food product or vendor requires multiple approval steps, regardless of the claims attached to individual foods. We are happy to forward your suggestion to our special dietary requests manager and our procurement department for further consideration.

here have been several families that have raised issues about HEALTHY eating @ DISNEYWORLD. Whom do we contact about the posibilites of a RAW FOOD Restaurant, Juice Bars, and an ORGANIC eatery or two. It seems unrealistic to have an attraction so massive, that no consideration has been made for certain sectors of the public that wants or HAS to eat healthy without carrying a BAG of HEALTHY FOOD !!!
Please direct us to the proper personnel to assist in launching a responsible/healthy way of eating @ DISNEY !!!

The ETX auditorium will include a 20 percent larger, floor-to-ceiling screen, 3D technology, 12 channel audio and digital projection that delivers higher resolution that HD. AMC will debut the ETX auditorium in time for the premier of Alice in Wonderland in 3D on March 5.

This new restaurant concept will offer Disney guests savory combinations of freshly prepared Campero Latin chicken, flavorful side dishes such as yuca fries and sweet plantains, and Latin drinks including horchata and tamarindo. For the more nutritious minded, they will offer chef-prepared salads, sandwiches and wraps, as well as sugar-free, gluten-free, low sodium, and organic offerings.

I made a point of signing up for the Disney Chase Rewards Visa card before we left. This card not only offers rewards certificates for Disney merchandise, but it also offers things like 10% off purchases of $50 or more at Disney stores. However, as there were slightly different offerings in the various gift shops, my total purchases didn't always amount to $50 or more to qualify for the discount. It wasn't until we did our big “souvenirs for friends” roundup that we finally qualified for 10% off.

I was extremely pleased to see that Disney's gift shops had offerings like T-shirts made from organic cotton, and even pencils, with the top end bent and formed in the outline of mouse ears, made from recycled materials. The Animal Kingdom even had plush Mickey and Minnie Mouse dolls made from organic materials. My own souvenirs included a license plate frame, USA-made from 100% recycled plastic, and featuring a green set of mouse ears, and a “Love Your World” message. I also chose a “Conservation Hero” pin at the Animal Kingdom, that benefits the Disney Worldwide Conservation Fund. Those pins can be purchased for a donation of any amount of your choosing.
