Organic Pastures Dairy - " ... We have just learned that Whole Foods insurance will no longer cover ANY raw milk sales NATIONALLY!!! This is affecting all states that currently are able to sell raw milk in the stores. Our product, as well as all other raw milk, will be taken off the shelves starting tomorrow (Saturday, March 13) at 8:00 am! We have done nothing wrong, this is a biased and blatant attack on raw milk and we will not stand for it!"

Organic Pastures is "... working around the clock to try and resolve this issue, but until then we, along with many other raw milk producers, will not be on the shelves. Please feel free to call our office at 1877 RAW MILK to find out whom you may contact to complain about this issue and to find a store near you that still has raw milk on the shelves!!!"

" Raw Milk: (at Whole Foods) The Whole Truth?

What is the whole truth regrading the decision to pull all the raw milk from all the Whole Foods markets?
We are told that the insurance company refuses to provide coverage to Whole Foods until there is a national standard in place for raw milk safety. I have several more questions I would like Whole Foods to answer here:
Has any of the raw milk that has been sold at Whole Foods ever been implicated in a food safety issue that resulted in an insurance settlement?
If not then what is the verifiable food safety issue with these products?
Would the insurance cover claims involving pasteurized milk?
Is there a national standard for raw spinach safety?
Would the insurance for Whole Foods cover claims involving spinach?
How about raw alfalfa sprouts and every other food that has ever had a food safety issue?"

"Hello Chef Jem,
Thank you for reaching out to us. Whole Foods Market is no longer offering raw milk or raw milk products (such as flavored and unflavored cream, skim milk, butter and colostrum). We will continue to carry raw milk cheeses.
Many state regulations governing the sale of raw milk have made it difficult to continue sales so we are taking time to carefully evaluate these regulations. We’re looking at these regulations and we are working with raw milk producer partners to create a new standard with one rigorous, consistent set of requirements.
We recognize this decision impacts not only our customers, but our producer partners and their families as well. We are working toward a steadfast solution to possibly be able to offer raw milk and raw milk products again in the states that allow it with consistent assurances in place.
We hope this information is helpful. If you have any further questions please use our on-line response form.
Best regards,
Rachael"

No mention of insurance in this reply!
Instead it mentions "state regulations governing the sale of raw milk" however it does not say how the regulations "made it difficult to continue sales" so the reply raises more questions that I think need to be asked!

The following is from Gordon S Watson, BC, Canada:
" well, the excrement hit the fan ... see the story at http://www.thebovine.wordpress.com
and http://www.thecompletepatient.com
Whole Foods stores have quit carrying raw milk nationwide.
They gave Mark McAffee of Organic Pastures in California, 6 hours' notice to ditch an account worth $30,000 per week!
David Gumpert says he perceives that the management of Whole Foods has a vegan leaning. So Whole Foods will sell totally dead, ultra-high temp treated milk, because it's "Organic"! But won't sell raw milk ... make sense?
It certainly makes for suspicion of motives other than just profit, at the very highest levels.
I say Whole Foods has made a major blunder ... quitting selling raw milk just when the trend is undeniable = people who have been strict vegetarians for a long time, are now seeking out REAL MILK in order to get the crucial fats they don't get otherwise."
