Warfarin And Chinese Medicine by chef jem .....

Article by Subhuti Dharmananda, Ph.D., Director, Institute for Traditional Medicine, Portland, Oregon that begins with a history of Warfarin and ends with natto-kinase a substance derived from natto (fermented soy bean product) that was "isolated by Japanese researcher Hiroyuki Sumi in 1980 while he was studying at the University of Chicago Medical School".

A Very Highly Recommended article on this subject:

I got inspired (right after my acupuncture appointment this afternoon) to search for Chinese herbs that could possibly replace the use of Warfarin or the Coumadin drug that my father is currently taking. I became concerned when it was reported that he had a bleeding incident. I was also very surprised to learn that he was still taking the drug over a year after he told me he'd be weaning off of it by the end of '08. I immediately searched for some natural blood thinners to offer. That list include cayenne which I had originally recommended a decade or so earlier around the time that my father had his first heart surgery. He did start taking the cayenne back then but it appears he stopped. In the recent process of offering alternatives and supporting communications my mother requested that I no longer e-mail her as the "go-between" for my father who does not do any e-mail. (That is actually another "story" and not what I intended to get into right now.)

My acupuncture session today included a followup on my taking "Salviae Tablets" that were recommended for heart palpitations as of two weeks ago. The article that I have linked above talks about Salviae and includes information on improvement in the blood from Salviae which then resulted in a lowered dose of Warfarin. I'm intending to print this article and mailing to my father.
