To download Backup:

Visit the Apple Downloads website, and then click the Download button to download the latest version of Backup.

Download Backup
After you’ve downloaded the Backup application to your computer, double-click the Backup.pkg icon and follow the onscreen instructions to install Backup.

Securely Accessing MobileMe Account Information

To help make updating account information more convenient and secure we now allow MobileMe service emails to link directly to http://www.me.com
(but not to any specific account pages) and have added Extended Validation (EV) certificates to the site. When you receive a MobileMe notification requesting a change to your account (for example to update an outdated credit card) be sure to look for evidence of Apple's Extended Validation Certificate in your browser's address bar when you log in.

If you're using a modern browser (Safari 4, Firefox 3.6, or Internet Explorer 8) you should see the text "Apple Inc." displayed in green on either the left or righthand side of the bar. The green display of "Apple Inc." indicates that me.com has been issued an Extended Validation (EV) certificate and is a legitimate site run by Apple. For more information on EV certificates, read our support article on identifying fraudulent "phishing" emails. Meanwhile just remember to run the latest version of your browser and check for the green display of "Apple Inc." before you enter your MobileMe member name and password to ensure you are on the correct website.

New MobileMe Gallery App for iPhone

The MobileMe Gallery app provides a great new way to view published photos and movies directly on your iPhone or iPod touch. You can flick left or right to move through photos, pinch to zoom, or rotate your iPhone or iPod touch for a landscape view. The MobileMe Gallery app automatically stores photos you've viewed so you can quickly access them again, even without a network connection. And you can easily view friends' public galleries by selecting them from your iPhone contacts or entering their member name. See how it works in this video.

To install the free MobileMe Gallery app on your iPhone or iPod touch, make sure you are running iPhone OS 3.1 then search for "MobileMe Gallery" in the App Store, select it, and tap Free and then Install. You can also download the app on your computer from the iTunes App Store and it will be installed the next time you sync your device.

Use Your Gallery as Holiday Central for Family and Friends
Your MobileMe gallery has a great way for your family and friends to view and share holiday photos in one place, whether they are celebrating under the same roof or in a different country. You simply set up a new album in your gallery and enable all of MobileMe's sharing features. Then everyone can participate right on the web.
Simply log in to me.com/gallery. Click the "+" button at the bottom to create an album and check all the options under Allow to enable others to download and upload photos to your album. After creating the album, copy the link at the top right and send it to everyone in your holiday circle.

The whole family can then upload photos to this album during the holidays for everyone to enjoy. When the celebrations are over, they can download print-quality versions of all the photos for their own collections. It's the virtual equivalent of passing around holiday photos no matter the distance separating you.

MobileMe iDisk App Updated
With Mobile iDisk 1.1 for iPhone, you can now copy and paste images in your iDisk to another application — Mail for instance — or save them to your camera roll. Simply view the image from your MobileMe iDisk, tap and hold it, and then select Save Image to save to your camera roll, or Copy so you can paste it later into another application. The update also adds email address auto-complete to make sharing files easier than ever. When sharing a file, just begin typing your recipient's name and it will be automatically completed if the name is in your Contacts list. To see other improvements in iDisk 1.1, visit the App Store.
If you already have the MobileMe iDisk app on your iPhone or iPod Touch, just tap App Store on your device, and then Updates to get the latest version. If you don't have it, tap Search and look for "iDisk" and then install it.

Use MobileMe Gallery Albums as a Mac Screensaver

On any Mac running Snow Leopard, you can use MobileMe Gallery public albums (albums that aren't hidden or password-protected) as a screensaver — it's another great way to share albums with friends and family. Simply use the Desktop & Screen Saver tab in System Preferences, click the plus sign and choose Add MobileMe Gallery. Then enter your member name or the member name of a friend or family member, select the albums you want to use as a screen saver and the effects you'd like to apply, and click OK. Next time your screen saver starts, it will use pictures from the album(s) you selected.

A reminder: For the best MobileMe experience, you should be using Mac OS X v10.6.2 Snow Leopard (on a Mac), MobileMe Control Panel 1.5 (on a PC), iTunes 9 (Mac or PC), and iPhone OS 3.1 (on iPhone or iPod touch).
