I am studying the BIOSMART SITE now.

Sugar Cane Bagasse
pulp is wood. However, growing demand in the paper
industry, at a time of dwindling forest resources, have
compelled the sector to turn to other sources of raw
materials, such as cereal straw, reeds, bamboo or
sugar-cane bagasse.

Bagasse (sometimes spelled bagass) is the biomass
remaining after sugarcane stalks are crushed to extract
their juice. (Wikipedia) As recently as 1993, Bagasse
was essentially a waste product that caused sugar mills to
incur additional disposal costs. In tropical regions of the world sugar cane represents a major crop. Because of the increasing demand for sugar in the last century, large areas in the tropical and subtropical countries all
around the world were allotted for sugar cane crops. Low level of maintenance and good productivity made sugar cane an attractive crop for farmers in these regions. Most of the high sucrose varieties are fully ripened and ready for harvest when they are 10 to 15 months old.
Accordingly, sugar cane bagasse is very much an annually renewable resource.

COMPOST FRIENDLY TAKE OUT CONTAINERS

The left over product is turned into
compost-friendly dinnerware.

The BIOSMART products are central
in the BEETKEEPERS project to help

I met ANTHONY RUSSO,
the creator of this company and EARTHSMART
at the San DIego State Earth Fair last year.

I have been using the pots ever since
in the BEET KEEPERS project to educate
others that we can each grow some of our own food.

The pot size makes a wonderful starter pot
for beet seeds.

I did this project last New Year's eve with children
at the WORLD BEAT CULTURAL CENTER.

Anthony Russo has his heart in the right place.

We have both been working on coming up with
a plan to save the EXOTICA RARE FRUIT NURSERY
in Vista California. I have been blogging a lot on that
in the last few months.

I would like to review some
THINGS THAT NEED a LITTLE BIT OF CLEANUP,
according to your favorite beet:


1- The END OF STROFOAM

Shouts to ANTHONY RUSSO OF EARTHSMART LLC and
BIOSMART for leading a charge to create a Moment of Awakening
around the use of styrofoam. Styrofoam is a products that
breaks down into little pieces called nurdlies that go out ot sea.

There is an island the in the ocean, the size of Texas,
made up of plastic and styrofoam pieces. The strofoam pieces
gather toxic chemicals around them. If animal and fish life
around them to not die from eating the particles,
the fish will often eat them. Then we eat the fish!!!

Angels like Anthony have stepped up around the world
to create alternatives.

alternatie is made of the remains of sugar cane production.
More than 200 family farmers
in asia earn a livelihood from producing many varieties of
take out compostable friendly dinner ware.

BEET KEEPERS will earn funds for our many non-profit projects

styrofoam, so the fish in the seas can breathe
a little easier.
