I recently learned how to remove content from Google.

My challenge was that I uploaded
some private information about my family
on a public blog. But after I removed
it from the blog, it was still viewable
through the Google cache feature.
This feature is basically a snapshot
of an old page is no longer exists.

While this may be a nice feature in some instances,
it sucks when you want to remove the content from the Web.

Things You'll Need:
Internet
Google account
Computer
A few smarts
Patience
Step
1
Remove the content from the website.

If you own the website, this is easy.
If not, you must contact the owner
of the site and have them remove
the content you want removed.
Work hard to find the right person to ask,
and motivate them by telling them
why it is important that the information is removed.

Step

Go to Google and access
the Web Developer services.

This may require that you create an account
if you don't already have one.
This should be free and easy to accomplish.
If you have questions about how to do this
(or related questions), access the Google help menu.

Step

Locate the menu for removing cached web pages.

You should be able to access this page by
conducting a simple search
for "cashed web pages" in the Google Web Developer site.

Send a request to Google
to remove the cached pages.

This will require that you
insert the exact web address
where the content once resided.
It is crucial that the web page you
have either removed the offending
web page entirely or that you have
modified the page by removing
the content you don't want on the page any longer.

Wait.

It may take several hours or longer
for Google to respond to your request.
This should not take more than a day.
If you have removed an offending page,
then it should not longer appear i
n the Google search results.
If you have just modified a page,
then the Google cached page should reflect this change.

Be more careful next time.

Make sure that you don't put anything
on the web that you don't want there.
Or if you do, make sure it is password
protected so that Google cannot access it.
