Something BIG may have ended for you
Friday or Saturday? What was it?

The end has to do with the Solar Eclipse
that happened Friday night. OF ocurse,
you may be one with the Beat (...and the Beet)
so do not read any farther.

This information mainly consciously applies
to those who aspire to be one with the Beat of nature.
One of the best ways to do this is of course
follow the Way of the Beet. Be a Beetkeeper.

DId you realize that most Vegetables speak to us
loud and clear????

The question is, are we listening?

Take for example, an incident that happened
to be yesterday at my weekly HILLCREST FARMERS' MARKET.

I got to the market after noon.
JOE RODRIGUEZ JR, of J.R. ORGANICS had already
left the market. He is the man who has basically fed
me for more than fifteen years the lettuce I eat.
(I also have to thank PHIL NOBLE of Sage Mountain
farms, my potato grower, as well as the TEAM from
LA MILPA ORGANICA COMMUNITY FARM that supplies
beet greens to my tummy + more...)

This is what happened yesterday.

Normally, my first stop at the market is
to visit with Joe. This is a ritual.
I knew Joe was gone.

It was kind of a chilly day.
Heather served me a cup of squash soup
that had been made from one of Phil Noble's
winter squashes. The soup had a delgihtful
green parsley on top.

That cup of soup really spoke to me!!!!!
It was yummy good, smooth going down,
warm, soul satisfying. This was Soul Food.

Then, I spend some time talking to Heather
and taking a few pictures of her craft
with the other vegggies.

She gets most of them from the other
local farmers right at the Hillcrest Farmers' Market.

She trades for some of her loud talking veggies
and other ingredients from

SAGE MOUNTAIN FARM
INLAND EMPIRE CSA

LA MILPA ORGANICA COMMUNITY FARM
...and CSA

SUZIE's FARM
and CSA

and a few others that I still have to meet.

She also had some lovely drinks...
I sampled all three. One in particular
had so many layers, he went it touched
me from top to bottom and went
all the way down to my toes and back.

Heather really knows her foods.
She is an alchemist.

I watched here at her craft.

The various talking veggies were directing her
to make a salad of them.

There was a lovely wrap made from the cheese
company that sells at the market.

Of course, some of the lettuce from Joe,
that is already a part of me, started to talk.

"Do you get any lettuce from Joe?" I asked Heather.

She told me, that she had not been introduced to Joe's
world famous lettuce..the kind that helps us all
