Warms my heart to see the miracle
of the EG MOBILE, my 68 VW Van
sitting in this photo outside the gate
of the HELPNG HAND GARDEN
at the AMERICAN JEWISH UNIVERSITY
BRANDEIS-BARDIN CAMPUS in Simi Valley.

It was touch and go the last month
both with my health and her health.
We were both leaking energy.
On her part it was one leak after another.
It was a nail biter. I wasn't sure if I was
going to make it to the WHOLE BEING WEEKEND
until the morning I was due to depart
from home here at the
ENCHANTED GARDEN INTENTIONAL COMMUNITY
in San Diego.

I went to bed September 9 sad that I would
not be going to this year's Whole Being Weekend.
I hardly had any energy that week,
and for weeks before, I could do little else
that lie in bed. I would be up for 20 minutes,
do a few things, a then feel like taking another
nap. I was really depleted.

I have had persistent diarrhea
for more than a year. It began
just about last High Holidays and has
continued through unremittingly.

The EG MOBILE is more than medal
and has beeen in emphathy with my
own leakage. It is easier to find solutions
for medal. MIKE, at MIKE's FOREIGN AUTO SERVICE
is my mechanic. He has been near part of my family
the last three weeks. The EG MOBILE has been
under his touch no less than four times in the last three
weeks, with one leak after another showing up.

Before the Whole Being Weekend,
the whole engine had to come out.
It may have been a cracked case, but turned
out to be the oil cooler. That cost near
$800.00, but was a lot less expensive that
the anticipated $3500.00 for the cracked head
and engine rebuild.

After the Oil cooler repair, intended to stop the
leak, the leak continued. Back in the shop.
This time it was the Oil Valve gasget,
an easy fix.

The leak continued.
This time it was a push rod.
Another day in the shop.

On my end, NUVA YEETAH,
my trusted Ayurvedic healer,
searched his vast pharmacy and could not
find the solution. He special ordered
Kurchi, a rare find. It arrived
a day before the High Holidays began
September 18.

I have to get up sometimes three times
a night to evacuate. The first night I took
the Kurchi, I slept through the night.

Deciding to go to the Whole Being Weekend
and then getting up there was a miracle.
I woke up Thursday morning feeling I had
enough energy to go. Deciding to go to
the High Holidays in Simi Valley was even more
touch and go.

I would normally have left Thursday September 17
to give myself time to settle in at RINA's, my home away
from home in Los Angeles. I was still processing
and uploading blogs on Thursday. My energy
was low. I pretty much decided that I would miss
the trip up to Los Angeles this year.

The services were due to start Friday evening
more than 100 miles from home.

Local praying seemed appropriate this year
being that so much of my work has to do more
and more with local sustainable community.
I pretty much decided not to go, but as the hours
went by, I started to feel into what it would be
like to pass up going to Brandeis Bardin.
I began to feel depressed. My soul wanted to
be there for the beginning of the Ten Days of Awe.

The ride takes about three hours to LA and then
another hour to Simi Valley. By noon Friday,
I had not decided to go. I wasn't even packed.

By 1 I started to pack, not sure where I was going.
I packed with the idea that I might get as far as
North County San Diego.

I generally do an activity with the children.
I generally read poems.

I grabbed a minimum of papers and took them
with me.

The EG Mobile was still in shambles from
the Whole Being Weekend.

I threw in some clothes, picked up a sweater
from the dry cleaner, stopped at Mike's to check
on the oil leak--again, and headed up the road.

3:11 AM

The trip up the the High Holidays with
my B'NAI HORIN COMMUNITY was even more
up in the air.
