WEIRD LOOKING TOMATO
at the HILLCREST FARMERS'
MARKET, SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA July 09.
San Diego County, once a growing capital
of food for our nation, grows some of the
last remaining therapeutic quality food
in America. Our City valued its BIOTECH
INDUSTRY more than its farming industry
in promotional literature as viewed
at last year's BIOTECHNOLOGY INDUSTRY
ORGANIZATION meeting held here in June '08.
We favor development of remaining farm land
above Earth-based authentic Home land
Security. We restrict our farmers here
from growing all the food that they can
grow, heaping upon them water restrictions
based on the amount of water they used
before the current drought.
We favor giving our golf courses more water
than our food growers.
ORGANIC, locally, grown
delicious, HEALTH FOOD SAFE inside and out--
Food a mother would give
to her child--
where will it stack up
in the new Guidelines
issues July 31,
as promised.
Please send FDA agents
to our Farmers' Market
so we can begin the
conversation about what
Real food is, and why
America is calling for
the return of its people
as a Nation of Gardeners.

In June 2009, FDA conducted the first Codex international
elechonic working group with members of the Codex

the drafr Annex for Fresh Leafy Vegetables

The FDA is my favorite agency
of the US Government.
I have been watching #usbill #hr2749
on C-SPAN passing through
the House of Representatives.
The first day, July 29,
this bill, now a big whopper at 133 pages,
went down to defeat.
There had been an incredible uproar
all over the internet from near
every faction, especially from people
who are in favor of
HEALTHY FOOD SAFETY
but did not like all the potentially
harmful parts of this bill
that Red Tape the hands of
small family farmers who
are among those that carefully
and painstakenly bring their
loved leafy greens to market.
This kind of food is seldom
contaminated. This is not
where the problem lies.
These are not the ones
needed more Rules and Regs
coming from on High.
This failure to pass #HR 2749
was called an embarrassment
to some, but gratefully, through
emergency meetings, and making
sure that the Pro Speaker used
the words "Organic" and "Small Farmer"
a number of times when she spoke
the next day,
the house passed #HR 2749.
Some of the folks
in the house also resented
that their mouths had been ducked
taped. They were hardly alloted any
time for discussion. A person
could have eaten a MacDonald's
Hamburger, fries, and a Coke
in about the amount of time
that this bill was Vetted.
(To vet was originally a Veterinary
term, for when a doctor looks
over udders and other parts.)
REP FRANK LUCAS (R) OKLAHOMA,
a new hero of mine, pointed out that
The House Committee on Agriculture
never had a chance to mark up
the bill and make necessary changes,
but thanks to REP JOHN DINGELL (D)
Texas, of the ENERGY and COMMERCE
COMMITTEE, the main sponsors
of the bill, #HR2749 passed.
HEARING QUOTE, JULY 16
BEFORE THE COMMITTEE OF AGRICULTURE
"None of the producer witnesses
at the hearing today would support
the Food Safety Enhancement Act as it is written,"
said Rep. Bob Goodlatte (VA-6).
"It is clear that members of the committee
and our witnesses are concerned about the new authority
the bill gives FDA to regulate on the farm production practices.
The notion that FDA can dictate to farmers in every
region of the country, growing and producing
a vast array of crops and livestock for a range of markets,
is irrational. I will continue to work with my colleagues
to improve this food safety legislation."
Written testimony provided by the witnesses
is available on the Committee website:
http://agriculture.house.gov/hearings/index.html
A full transcript of the hearing
will be posted on the Committee website at a later date.
In his hearing before the HOUSE
COMMITTEE on AGRICULTURE
July 16, near every person speaking
voiced concern that the bill
had major flaws. A few of these flaws
had been worked out
thanks to The ENERGY and COMMERCE
Committee truly listening and
getting a real food
to fork education from
The NATIONAL SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE
COALTION. I want to especially thank
the members of the Committee for listening.
I want to thank
RUSSELL LIBBY of the MAINE
ORGANIC FARMING AND GARDENING ASSOCIATION
and BRIAN SYNDER OF the
PENSYLVANIA ASSOCIATION OF SUSTAINABLE AGRICULTURE
(PASA) for their help with continuing to
work toward amendments.
THE FARR- KAPTUR Amendment
offered a number of sound suggestions
and some of these were adopted into
the bill as it stands now.
The Bill,
"To amend the Federal Food,
Drug, and Cosmetic Act
to improve the safety of food
in the global market,
and for other purposes."
hopefully will have some
influence over
installing more rules for HEALTHY FOOD
SAFETY. It was also
called the FOOD SAFETY ENHANCEMENT ACT 2009,
or FSEA for short.
I resent that some
on the internet were
suggesting that the bill
was sort of about
creating safety for
those who are stakeholders
in creating commerce in
the global marketplace
with food, more than
being about Food Safety
for consumers. I do not
know why anyone would
say such a thing?
Hopefully, by the time the bill
becomes law after the Senate
gets their teeth into it
after the August break,
a number of the legislators
from the House,
who did not have a chance
to read the bill,
will digest
what they voted for
and send precautions to
their Allies in the Senate.
This Bill really needs to
be at least three meals,
There is a ton of raw manure
in here as well as important
points.
NICK MARIVELL,
one organic farmer speaking
at the AG HEARING
July 16, said the bill was
like a train on a fast track.
The CONSUMER UNION,
who in the past came out
as an advocate for GMO Food,
favored the bill. The
FARM-TO-CONSUMER
LEGAL DEFENSE FUND,
garnered more than 12,000
petition signers, and more are
signing every day.
The education process here
is just begining, and where it
ends will be the transformation
of the American Dream back
to the ideal of "Amber Waves of Grain."
Those grains were of course organic
before we had the word. GMO grains
and Organic cannot exist side by side.
When it comes to food growing,
we all become PRO LIFERS.
There is no such thing as PRO-CHOICE
re: Seeds. Either the nation is all organic
or all BIO. That is the truth, and my
friends and allies at BIO know this.
No one wanted to
get out in front of this train and stop it.
No one in their rational mind is
against Healthy Food Safety.
My concern through the
journey through the Senate,
is that the train not become
a train wreak.
Gratefully, in this,
the land of the free,
we will all have our say
on HEALTHY FOOD SAFETY
as the bill gets really cooked
and as legislators come home
for a month and get feedback
from the voters.
This subject of food is of vital importance.
We cannot have HEALTH REFORM
without HEALTHY FOOD SAFETY.
We may want to go back to the
basics with this bill, and come
up with something really good
to eat that is good for consumers
as well as those who have to fork
out funds when contaminated
industrial food goes inevitably bad.
There are some laws of nature
that were very intended to be
a source of profit. There are
some things that are naturally
intended to go back to the compost
pile when their time has come.
There is no sense attempting
to invest new tech to simply
delay what is inevitable.
Real Food is meant to rot
if not eaten fresh.
The FDA:
I am so glad that they now are getting
more regulatory powers
through the passage of the
FOOD SAFETY ENHANCEMENT ACT 2009.
formerly known as #HR 2749.
I did not formerly consider the FDA my favorite US Government
agency, but after spending about 12 hours studying
and writing about the alignments between the CODEX
ALIMENTARIUS COMMISSION and MR. MICHAEL TAYLOR,
our new FDA food Czar, I have indeed become a converted FDA Fan.
Since 1963 to the COTEX ALIMENTARIUS COMMISSIONS
has been laying down the premiere INTERNATIONAL FOOD
RULES and REGS;
Many of their Rules and Regs are
already in place. I say friends because
CODEX is an U.N. sponsored activity.
I too was honored by the U.N.'s
ROBERT MULLER, once an Assistant
Secretary General for the work I would
do in my life. The education of Washington
is now my assignment,
and the message is simple.
KEEP the BEET.
I am grateful that the President I
support does not eat beets.
KEEP the BEET Media Star,
The First World's Talking Beet Plant
will feel save when she comes
with me to the White House to
Bless the garden.
This Bill #HR 2749, and the other
contributions of MICHAEL TAYLOR
make a major contribution to help us
Harmonize with our CODEX friends.
I am looking forward to Congress
and the Media thanking CODEX
personally, and sending thank
yous to the US CODEX OFFICE,
that does business in Washington
D.C. on a daily basis.
Wasn't there a great tune of a Coca-cola
commercial years ago, something about
Harmony??? It was a snappy tune
that the COMMISSION may want to use
in their marketing campaign to win over
more of the public, not that their
intentions and functions are
becoming into widespread view
thanks to MICHAEL TAYLOR of
the FDA.
The Codex, i understand meets generally
in a few main place each year, Rome being one
of them. Italy was a place that once
had problems with its own trains
running on time. Trains now run on
time or ahead of time in Washington.
BACKGROUND ON THE CODEX
The Commission, established by the UN
in 1963, works hand in hand with the WHO
who are excellent at making sure there
is enough Flu Vaccine to go around so
we do not all get sick starting August 15.
I am looking forward
to watching this on the DAILY SHOW,
my main source for news:
President Obama and all the legislators line up
to get their shots first, sort of like
Local Police Chiefs have PR pictures
when they give blood.
I can see that our President made a wise choice when
he appointed Agent of Change--
my new friend MICHAEL TAYLOR--
to be his close consultant.
I am sure MICHAEL and family
will enjoy welcoming KEEP the BEET
to be his Czarina of Food Safety.
Who can say it better than a talking plant?
Yes, all plants speak. It is us who
are called now to remember the
language of plants; their their
language is the language of life.
The FDA, in getting us these Leafy Green
Guidelines, was right on target as promised
with their timeline;
MICHAEL TAYLOR had announced that before the end
of the month, the FDA would issue new guidelines
for LEAFY GREENS, and here they are!!!
I am especially pleased that the first guidelines to be issued
are about Leafy Greens.
There is a lot more a would like to write,
but I have promised myself to catch up with some
record keeping this morning.
I want to capture a few of the thoughts
this early morning before I do some of this record keeping.
1. MICHELLE OBAMA's ORGANIC GARDEN
I agree with the press of Russia, the greatest noteworthy
event of the recent European Obama Tour-- that collected
raves in that former agrarian nation--was MICHELLE
OBAMA's ORGANIC GARDEN. This last week, I was impressed
with cartoons by I believe his name was Wexler, no doubt
a nice Jewish man, that show Michelle not only with a lettuce
in hand, but in another cartoon, bee keeper equipment.
I love that there are happy bees at the White House.
To be busy as a bee, was one of the ideas promulgated
by BENJAMIN FRANKLIN, who I consider one of our Founding
Fathers.
My friend BEN was a great Observer.
KEEP the BEET Media Star,
my constant companion,
pointed out this quote from
Good Ol Ben:
"Those who would give up essential Liberty,
to purchase a little temporary Safety,
deserve neither Liberty nor Safety.
BENJAMIN FRANKLIN,
Pennsylvania Assembly:
Reply to the Governor,
November 11, 1755.—
The Papers of Benjamin Franklin,
ed. Leonard W. Labaree,
vol. 6, p. 242 (1963).
This quotation, slightly altered,
is inscribed on a plaque in the stairwell of the pedestal
of the Statue of Liberty:
“They that can give up essential liberty to obtain
a little safety deserve neither liberty nor safety.”
http://www.bartelby.net/73/1056.html
MICHELLE FOR PRESIDENT
I was thinking that in the tradition of the CLINTON's
I would like to see MICHELLE begin her champaign now
to be the next Democratic President of the United States.
Her running mate should be MARIA SHRIVER
another great woman who sleeps with an honorable
Republican who I hope is more into making future
TERMINATOR movies that supporting GMO Terminator Seeds.
Michelle as our next president,
would mean that my President BARACK OBAMA,
an outstanding and caring man,
would have to become a stay home dad.
Staying home, is not such a bad idea,
especially when you have a great Organic Garden
and lovely kids. There are a few organic
beers I would to introduce him to
when he invites me there and also comes
to visit our NATURAL PRODUCT EXPO WEST
out here. It is nice to have HEALTHY FOOD
SAFETY growing in the garden.
It is better to see the writing on the Wall
and the Sign of the TImes: We are going
back to our roots. This nation will become
healthy again when we start listening
to the foundation of our strength healthy soil.
It is time to remember that the Earth and the Soul
are Soilmates. May we all
learn from the leadership of Michelle.
Each of us learning
to KNOW OUR GROWER is a key
to HEALTH FOOD SAFETY.
Grow some of your own food.
As an ideal,
Know the farmers who are growing
the rest of your food. Through
shopping at your local Farmers' Market
this is very much possible,
although this may not be in harmony
with Codex ideals. They prefer
our food supply be centralized
in the hands of a few growers,
preferably Growers who
appreciate the value of
GMO seeds. It is easier to
standardize seeds when they
are owned by one or two companies.
That is enough to give me a headache.
Where is my BAYER aspirin bottle?
THE POLITICS OF SEEDS
Heirloom seeds, local, organic
and sustainable in the hands
of a Nation of Gardeners,
may be patriotic, but
from the point of view of winning
votes with our Codex Allies,
this does not serve World Trade.
I ask our President to rethink
who are real allies are.
We need a whole different kind
of thinking to get out of the money mess
we are in. We need a whole
different kind of export.
Our President was voted in by us
because he believe in him and his
capacity to inspire the world.
Thanks to MICHAEL TAYLOR
at the helm, thanks to his personal
expertise with GMO seeds, I
am sure the FDA will favor
the World Trade perspective,
and we will all soon face
a important decision.
The question is,
what kind of future food
will be be feeding the world
and feeding our children.
I attended BIO last year.
I saw many beautiful people
in that industry. The head
of BIO is a former Congressman.
BIO wants to Heal the World
as much as we under the
Organic banner. It is time
to honor our Stars and Stripes
above international guidelines.
2. PEANUT BUTTER
I have been reading recently about all the great ideas
about FOOD SAFETY. I am volunteering along
with KEEP the BEET Media Star
The World's First Talking Beet Plant
to be part,
not only of the New FDA IMAGE
that I see forthcoming,
but also,
I will be giving
free consultations
as Your Enchanted Gardener
(what is that word that lawyers use
when they do not charge????)
to PRESIDENT OBAMA's
WORKING GROUP ON FOOD SAFETY.
The kids at the White House love their
Peanut Butter, the President recently
reported. This is a strong point
for passing HEALTHY FOOD SAFETY
and a SOLID HEALTH REFORM BILL.
I heard that UNITED NATURALS
one of our leading National Product Companies
made a big delivery of organic food and top-of
the-line products to the White House last year.
I know that this company,
one of our largest Natural Food Distributors,
has organic peanut butters.
The Natural Product Industry
is one of the fasting growing,
in the world right now.
Again it is time to re-invest
in WHOLE FOODS.
For the White House Pantry,
I especially would like to recommend
the LIVING TREE COMMUNITY FOODS brand.
I like the name, and the companies with
values that are time tested.
I am not sure if they make peanut butter.
KEEP the BEET Media Star
and I do not eat Peanut Butter.
Peanut Butter is very hard on the digestion,
even organic peanut butter.
That is my experience.
I would like to see the kids
spreading their wings
and introducting Moms and Pops
to other kinds of nut butters.
I especially like DR BERNARD JENSEN's
favorite, sesame butter.
I am sure MICHAEL TAYLOR, our FDA
food Czar, would not mind the President
eating Raw Nut Butters.
even thought I imagine he prefers
pasteurized Milk over Raw Milk,
Raw Milk will be outlawed
now once the former bill #HR 2749
passes the house. That is one of the
stipulations hidden in the bill.
We have to rethink the raw milk question,
but that is another story.
How do you make raw cheese without
raw milk? How come we never had a
problem with milk for thousands of years
raw?
The bill--FOOD SAFETY ENHANCEMENT ACT-
now goes on to the
Senate after all the legislators
go home to take flack on how they voted.
MICHAEL and the COW
I understand from my research yesterday,
that in the 90's, Michael Taylor had a lot
of influence over Milk, or was it just cows?
I need to get all the
facts straight and the abbreviations
of those Bovine Additives that some
people say are the cause of their cancers.
I do believe he helped us with all those
BOVINE HORMONES, etc in milk.
I think it is ridiculous that some people
think that bovine hormones, etc,
etc, are not good for kids.
We need large size kids
to play basketball in the Olympics.
Big Cows make big bones, and it is good
not to have our cows wasting time
growing in the field when we can
get them growing faster.
Under the new guidelines, i hear
we will be segregating the cows
from the Leafy Greens growers, to make sure
that no fruit flies carry
manure germs from one place to the other.
Speaking of Trade,
I want to salute Michael Taylor
of the recent acceptance of so many of
his ideas by his CODEX ALIMENTARIUS allies,
this international esteemed body that
is making so many of the FOOD SAFETY
RULES and REGs that we now want to
harmonize with as a nation.
Back to PEANUT BUTTER...
I would like to know the name
of the person(s) who were responsible
for all the damages in the recent
episodes that injured and killed.
With the new Regulatory Powers of the FDA, maybe
we can feature on the news the pictures
of all Farmers, and Processors,
and floor moppers,
who we can now go after.
We have a local radio station who
on Fridays tells us the names of
all Sex Offenders in our neighborhood.
I want to know the names of
the FOOD SAFETY OFFENDERS,
once we start defining what
real Health is all about.
Maybe we go back to how we
did it in the Good Olden Days,
when we had a Town Square
and those wooden holding devises
where a person put their head
through and their hands.
They would stay there under lock
and key for so many hours.
I would like to see photos
of MICHAEL TAYLOR with each
of the FOOD SAFEY OFFENDERS
that he and the FDA men
now round up. Maybe
the international dignataries
from a Transformed Codex can take
photos of these Food Safety
Defilers. The CODEX TRIBE
are the ones
coming up new FOOD SAFETY
RULES, although they know
more about Trade. Maybe
with some education,
we can turn CODEX into
a real people loving body?
Please correct me if I am
wrong. I look forward
to revising my impression
about CODEX. They
haven't exactly been out
to help the Consumer,
as far as the PR I hear.
Maybe we could have an MTV program
each week with music, or some kind
of new show like DANCING WITH THE STARS
that features the FOOD SAFETY OFFENDERS
and how they come to see the Light
and become reformed.
We will have to start with defining
health, of course, and maybe putting
the FDA in charge of making sure
we all have three good organic meals
a day.
Oh, well, it is
7:56 AM
Saturday morning.
I have a big day ahead.
KEEP the BEET Media Star
my appointment for Czarina of Food
for the FDA, is doing a public
appearance later in the day.
I better make hay before the
sun starts shining.

The US media are assiduously silent on the matter of Codex. Under the helpful cover of the media’s information blackout, Codex Alimentarius Commission meetings are regularly attended by officials from the Departments of Agriculture, Health and Human Services, State, Commerce, the Environmental Protection Agency, the Office of US Trade Representative, and the US Codex Office. Non-governmental agencies in attendance at the meetings include the 49th Parallel Biotechnology Consortium, the Biotechnology Industry Organization, Consumers Union, Crop Life International, Dow Chemical, Dupont, the European Association of Bioindustries, the Grain and Feed Trade Association, the International Cooperative Alliance, the International Council of Beverages Associations, the International Council of Grocery Manufacturers Association, the Institute of Food Technologists, the International Glutamate Technical Committee and the International Life Sciences Institute, Monsanto, and Sygenta, among others –with the exception, that is, of any democratically elected and accountable representatives of citizens these food codes will affect.
