HUFFINGTON POST
is doing a sweet little feature
on The Ten Best Local Food Cities.
They are focusing on restaurants
that serve local food.

San Diego has a growing local food movement
as do most cities, but it would be a great
study to see where San Diego ranks
as far as the amount of local food grown.

We were once one of the growing capitals
of local food for our nation.

San Diego as a city governance is more supportive
of housing and development than it is of
one of its greatest natural resources,
the local organic farmer.

You can still meeting some of this Unsupported
dying breed on Sundays at the Hillcrest Farmers
Market, at the DMV, 3960 Normal St
(between Blaine Ave & Lincoln Ave)
San Diego, CA 92103.

I will be leading a tour of the Hillcrest FM
between 1-2 PM, Sunday, August 23.
The last hour of this FM has lots of great
food deals. A lot of food goes unsold
and so the local organic farmers would
rather sell it than take it home to the family cow.
Some food at the end of the market goes
to the local food banks, but there is
still a lot to buy at great prices.
