GROWING YOUR PRODUCE
MAY BE SIMPLER THAN YOU THINK

SEEDS OF CHANGE HEIRLOOM SEEDS
or MONSANTO TERMINATOR SEEDS?

What do you want to support????

http://www.thevillagenews.com/story/37739/

o secret that large-scale chemical agriculture is poisoning our soils and our water and weakening our communities.

The term “go green” can be put into so many different perspectives and utilized in so many different ways.

Organic farmers are taking the term to the next level with almost two million farms in the USA. About 80 percent are small farms, with large percentages being family-owned.

More and more of these farmers are now selling their products directly to the public. They do this via community-supported agriculture programs, farmers’ markets, food co-ops, u-picks, farm stands and other direct marketing channels.

Buying organic produce from local farmers helps to maintain a healthy environment, a vibrant community and a strong and sustainable local economy in which to thrive.

Located in the high desert hills of Aguanga, Sage Mountain Farms is quickly becoming one of the most popular farms in the valley because of their local presence and the fact that all of their produce is grown using sparkling clean natural well water and the utilization of a healthy organic process.

Owners Jauny and Phil Noble are certified organic growers and are registered with the Riverside County and State of California Departments of Agriculture.

“We also belong to an organization called Willing Workers on Organic Farms and as a result host people from around the country and the world who come to share their experiences, to learn and to work on our farm,” said Phil.

Earlier this week local farmers, chefs and members of food communities were invited out to the farm to taste their latest produce grown from Advertisement
Seeds of Change, the country’s oldest and largest producer of organic seeds.

Steve “Woody” Woodward, sales and marketing representative for Seeds of Change, was on hand to explain more.

“We facilitate a process for a grower like Phil Noble to evaluate our seeds in production,” he said. “Then we invite people to come determine for themselves how our products stand up to the rest. Their feedback is crucial in the next stage of our growing experience.”

Produce grown from Seeds of Change organic seeds is known for its exceptional flavor and appearance and this week’s taste-testing was a huge success.

From the heirloom tomatoes to the sweet strawberries, everyone who attended left with a smile and great new products.

Another project taking place at the farm concerns Internet blogger Leslie Goldman, better known to the organic community as “Your Enchanted Gardener.” It’s called Keep the Beet.

“We are asking people to come get a beet plant from Phil, grab a pot and grown your own beet,” said Goldman. “It’s a way to get people to gain confidence about growing your own plants, and if all goes according to plan this is going to be a worldwide phenomenon.”

More information can be found at http://www.curezone.com.

The Nobles seem to have their hands full, but from the looks of things they aren’t letting this drab economy get in the way of their growing business.

“This is all started out as hobby,” Phil said. “We went to one farmers’ market and sold out, and it just grew from there.”

Their CSA (Inland Empire CSA) is a shared effort with De Luz Farms and Nursery (Gary and Melodee Leavitt) if anyone's looking for it (see inlandempirecsa.com). As a fairly long term member, I can say the produce is amazing and abundant. Highly recommended.

Being a member of CSA i think is the best thing we did, not only to support our local farmers to keep them stay but also, to help the eco system and to benefit humanity. I absolutely love CSA's organic fruits and produce, the taste is remarkable. Having well water for the produce just tops it. Thanks for providing ways to care for our planet and for providing my family will fresh produce. More success to Sage MOuntain and DeLuz Farm, you guys are doing such an excellent job.

Just joined the CSA, I'm looking forward to enjoying all the new fruits and vegetables, as well as the seasonal shift in variety. I've heard about CSA's for years, and was overjoyed to find one practically in my back yard.

I LOVE this CSA and I am so happy I became a part of this "movement" over a year ago. My whole family benefits from our bi-weekly box of fruits and veggies and we are more healthier for it! Thanks for sharing this great video and event with us all!
