CENTER in the summer of 1967.
This was near San Francisco and the Height Asbury.
This was the summer of Love.

His wife is EUNICE KENNEDY SHRIVER.

I attended that event years ago
when I made friends with the wife of the previous
Gov of CA, GRAY DAVIS.

I spent a week in Sacracmento
as a guest of JOHN VASCONCELLOS,
a dear friend.

I saw and seeded a garden in Capitol Park
when I was there.

I have pictures of that.

I have planted other seeds for Sacramento
and the Capitol.

So glad some of these are now coming into being.

On October 7, 2003, he became the second governor to be recalled in American history. Davis was succeeded by Republican Arnold Schwarzenegger on November 17 after the recall election. Davis spent 1,778 days as Governor, and signed 5,132 bills out of 6,244, vetoing 1,100 bills.[5] Since being recalled, Davis has worked as a guest lecturer at the UCLA School of Public Affairs and as an attorney at Loeb & Loeb, and sat on the Board of Directors of the animation company DiC Entertainment.

Biography

Sharon Ryer, raised in Santee, California, was one of seven children. While a flight attendant, she met Gray Davis in 1978 when he arrived late for a flight to Los Angeles. As First Lady, Sharon focused on children’s health and safety issues. She was also passionate about children’s education and literacy. She created the Governor’s Book Fund to provide grants to school libraries. To support the book fund, she wrote the children’s book The Adventures of Capitol Kitty, a fictional story about a real cat that lived on the State Capitol grounds. Over the span of four years, Sharon raised $750,000 to benefit school libraries. Sharon and Gray now live in Los Angeles, where Sharon devotes her time to volunteer efforts on behalf of UNICEF, Loyola Marymount University, and SheVotes.org.

Sharon Davis Finds Political Role on Internet

It would be understandable if last year's recall election had soured former California first lady Sharon Davis on politics. But the wife of former Gov. Gray Davis has found a new political role, this time on the Internet.

Sharon Davis is one of the organizers of a new Web portal called sheVotes.org, which was set up to link women with organizations that can help them become politically active.

Visitors to the site can download information on registering to vote and click on links to political groups active on a wide range of issues.

Davis said the new group hopes to reach out to the 30 million American women who are eligible to vote but don't participate in elections.

"We are looking to be a national site to help women who want to be involved politically but don't know where to go," she said.

TV journalist MARIA SHRIVER is one of five children of Eunice Kennedy and Sargent Shriver. (Eunice is the sister of RFK and JFK; Sargent Shriver was the first head of the Peace Corps during the Kennedy administration.) Maria Shriver broke from the family political tradition to become a television news reporter. (Though JFK had considered becoming a journalist early in his career.) Since 1983 Shriver has been a network news correspondent, first for CBS and later for NBC.


Action movie star ARNOLD SCHWARZENEGGER is a Kennedy in-law, having married Maria Shriver in 1986. The match was politically unusual, as Schwarzenegger was a well-known Republican supporter who headed the National Council on Fitness in the administration of George Bush (the elder).
