Don't Give Up Too Soon... by YourEnchantedGardener .....

Don't give up too soon... what you are looking for may be looking for you. Tonight I met JENNIFER SCIAQUA, SDSU graduate in charge of E3 Merchandising and Sponsors last year. It was a perfect match, unexpected, and exactly what I needed. Hopefully, meeting me was exactly what she needed too.

JENNIFER SCIACQUA , SDSU graduate,
she was in charge
of merchandising and sponsors at last day's SDSU Earth Day.

___

Don't give up too soon...
what you are looking for
may be looking for you.

Today turned in an unexpectedly long day.
I wanted to make the most of this special day,
the last of eight days of The Passover,
and the end of the first week of
meditations I am doing to make
every day of my next seven weeks
very conscious and intentional.

Tonight one of those
dream come true kind of experiences
happened.

KEEP The Beet was rooting for me.

Who would have guessed?

I was exhausted, totally exhaused
by the time I stopped writing and
making up flyers for a class I would like
to teach.

This class is called COME ALIVE!
Hopefully, I will come alive as I teach it.
part of today I felt half dead from overwork.
Just doing too much.

The Earth Day events begins for me
on Saturday. They go on for a week
or more.

Tonight, I wanted to nail down
a very important event--The
SDSU Earth Day next Wednesday.

The two main organizers I have
already met twice, but I did not confirm
having a table at the new
launch of the San Diego State University
Farmers' Market.

The Farmers' Market will be part
of the Earth Day on Campus.
The campus is up the street
within walking distance from
our house.

An alliance between the environment
club called E3, the nutrition club and our
Enchanted Garden Community here
would definitely be a lifesaver.

Managing one third acre is more than
we can handle. Nature keeps growing.
Being of service to our local community
is a key to our evolving Mission Statement.
Many ideas have been flowing.

So tonight was the opportunity
to confirm my participation in
next Wednesday's event at the University.

According to the E3 Calendar,
a meeting was scheduled in the Council
Chamber. I stopped working and showered.
It was just about 6:25 PM when I left here.
The meeting started at 6:30 PM.

My first blunder was parking.

I put my credit card in and paid
$6.00 for three hours. I wanted to be
safe. My credit card came up
unreadable, so I tried again.
I paid $6.00. Then, in the receipt
box. I found two receipts!
I had paid twice--$12.00.

What a way to go, Goldman.

I was at the Council Chamber
at about 6:45 PM.

There was no meeting.
Maybe I read the online calendar wrong.

I felt disappointed.

I went upstairs to the Kiosk to check.

There was a Green Fest poster outside
the Kiosk. I stopped to read it.

Then, someone came by
and saw me.

It was one of the students
from last year's E3.

She remembered me.
I had given her a dream seed
last year, and she said she
had been thinking of me.
She never found
a place to plant that seed.
She was looking for someplace
permanent during a year
that included her graduation
as well as traveling.

We stood and talked.

It was then the magic
began to happen...

She immediately came to my aid.

She was in charge
of sponsors and merchandising
last year for e3. She had graduated,
but happened to be on campus.

Her name is JENNiFER SCIACQUA.

I told her I came for the meeting
that I thought was on the calendar.

She pulled out her cell phone
and made a call.

The person on the other end answered.

It turned out there was no meeting,
but the person she called, was
the President of e3, RAE. She was one
of the two people I wanted to see
tonight. It turned out that the other
person, MATT, was also there.
MATT is in charge of the SDSU Farmers' Market.

I was able to confirm a table
for the Farmers' Market.

I was on Jen's cell.
I was self conscious that she
was waiting, and might have
another time commitment.
She was being very patient.

Then, we talked more.

She told me she had gained a lot
from her e3 experience, and
really wanted a job in merchandising
Green sustainable products.

She wanted to learn more
about pesticide use on farms.

She had found a job, but it
was not directly in her area
of most interest.

I started to tell her about my
closest GREEN HEROES.

She had already heard of
the folks from ECOUSABLE
two days before, my friends
making an amazing stainless steel
drinking bottle with a filter
that takes out 99.9% of chlorine,
flourine,and galardia+, all kinds
of harmful bacteria that are found
in streams.

I told her about ANTHONY ZOLEZZI,
my friend the sustainability expert.
I imagined that as GREENOPS came
to San Diego, or another city, she
could play a role.

I also told her about the PERF GO GREEN
biodegradable Trash bags that are made
from old non-biodegradable plastic bags.
I could see her being a valuable asset
to the fast rising company.

Jen took some notes on my card that
I gave her. I promised to email her
the contacts.

It was then she told me that she
had thought of me recently.
I had given her that dream seed
last year. She was one of the few
students I met. These e3 students
are the cream of the Green Crop
at SDSU. I wanted to mentor some.

SInce then, the idea had been
jelling that I wanted to teach
some ideas to the students.

I have been writing lately
about the lack of education
they get related to how to eat--
the real basics that I learned
right out of college from
Dr. Bernard Jensen.

Jen told me she wanted to go
into ECO-Fashion and natural fiber.

I told her about the Natural Product Expo West
where they have an Eco fashion show.
Just last night I was looking at TED NING's
site on LOHAS, a major place for the kind of
networking Jen needs now.

Anthony as well has been investing time
in sparking college students.

I tol her about Greenopolis, the social
networking site that has a Green Job Board.

Then, I got a Bingo prize with Jen.

It turned out she was interested in
nutrition.

I gave her a copy of Dr. Bernard
Jensen's THE NEW AMERICAN FOOD PROGRAM
Booklet.

Then, I she was the first to see the flyer
that I made today. I had one copy.

I offered her $50.00 to help me
"merchandise" my class.

How perfect!

I can not imagine a more perfect
fit!

Jen told me she will be at this
year's SDSU Earth Fair in her booth.

She is making things out of old shirts.

The Greenops project , when I met
them at the Natural Product Expo West,
was doing the same
thing, reusing all shirts. I got two of those
old shirts that had been revamped.

I explained the KEEP The BEET Project
and Jen visualized some cheerleaders
dressed in beet outfits. The costumes
had green hair just like KEEP The BEET.
How Fun!!!!

We took some photos.
It turned out that Jen had come to campus
tonight to get a photo, but she was short
of funds, so she did not get one.

She liked the photos I took.

I am going to hook Jen up with my
GREEN HEROES, and also RON NASH
of the CAREER ZONE. He is starting
to work with new graduates and
do programs on campus.

I had an extra beet ready to be planted
that I had brought along, but rather
than give it to her now, I gave her
KEEP The BEET's rooting certificate.
We decided we would complete
the planting this time at Earth Day
SDSU next Wednesday.

Well, that's the magical story
of a great meeting with a lovely
graduate.

I will so enjoy her success,
and what an honor to do a little
mentoring tonight.

Just what I needed.
