A lot of processing today. My spirit sent me looking for this photo taken post surgery in 2001.

Strange day of healing.
Definitely needing to regroup.
The photo above was taken in 2001.
The man holding my hand is
DR. WILLIAM BUGBEE,
one of the top orthopedic surgeons
around. He did my Hip Revisions.
I am reminded to day of the project
I had named:
GETTING HIP.
The idea was to help our nation GET HIP
to Health through my own GETTING HIP.
Getting Hip about Health?
We really need that program set in place now.
I am reminded of old friend ROGER JANKE
who I met at the Pacific Symposium years ago.
He was kind of a double agent of sorts,
on the one hand a master of Alternative
Arts and on the other, an advisor to Hospitals
who wanted to keep from going bankrupt.
He showed them how to get Hip to Health
by welcoming in Alternatives.
They realized that many people were spending
out of pocket for alternatives. They wanted
part of that new wave.
A lot of hospitals have got on the Alternative Health Care
program since I first met Roger.
PCOM, The Pacific College of Orienal Medicine,
now has M.D.'s who come to study Acupuncture.
Acupuncturists are increasingly getting into the
conventional hospitals out here, even in San Diego,
a city that had a conservative medical side to it,
as well as being one of the seed beds for Holistic Health.
This photo has a reference for me to
President Obama's speech last night where
he wanted to help reform Health.
Roger would say that an Ounce of Prevention
is worth a pound of Cure.
We can't keep from being bankrupt if we
keep going the way we are headed.
There is also another reference for me with this photo.
Life is a Gift.
My Life is a Gift.
I was having some feelings today about needing
more funding to meet expenses.
It also crosses my mind:
I would not be walking today at all
if it were not for the gifts of conventional
medical procedures that got me walking again.
On days when I feel a need for more funding,
like a day like today, It is good to remember
that I would not be walking at all, I would likely
be in a bed prone, or worse.
IT is a gift that I can walk at all, or sit.
My life is a Gift, and a lot was given
to get me walking.
In many ways, I have been paid
already to do what I am here to do.
