I want to thank JENNA DRUCK, her special life path,
and her dad KEN DRUCK for reminding me,
and underscoring Tools to have my
BEST EVER YEAR in '09.

I have had some really Special moments in my life
and felt the love of some very special Friends.
I have had the experience many times of walking through my dreams,
and also known moments of pain. I have done my best
to turn breakdowns into breakthroughts.
I welcome '09 to be my Best Year Ever.

Jenna Druck was 21 when she left this life.
She was a very special soul who excelled and was noted by others
for her leadership and inspiration to other young women.
She was on her way to the Taj Mahal when her life was cut
short by a car accident. Her Dad, Ken, turned his own personal
grief into an opportunity to continue not only his life, but
the life of his daughter Jenna. He founded the Jenna Druck
Foundation.

This very special San Diego Non-Profit reaches out and helps
many other young teen women through two award winning programs.
The first is FAMILIES HELPING FAMILIES. The Second, the YOUNG WOMEN's
LEADERSHIP PROGRAM.

I have had personal experience with grief in my life.
I was very close to my mother. I will never forget the image of
a naked bottomed little hispanic child, who had momentarily
lost her own mom, being lifted up and comforted by my mom.
I was just a little boy then myself. I remember looking up
and seeing my mother holding this child.

My mother was the center of our Jewish community.
She help our home together. The folks at the Raskin's bakery
in East L.A. came to our house for goodies.

Sadly, she died of cancer when I was 12.
"Must I die?" I heard her say out loud when I came to visit
her at what is now Cedars-Sinai in L.A.

That was a long time ago. I am a very young 61 now,
but we are forever marked by those kind of life events.

The Jenna Druck Young Women's Leadership Program
asks for "Mentors for a day." I am going to apply.
I have much to share with young teen women.
I am looking forward to the time as well, when I am free
to give all I would like to the BEST YEAR EVER event,
that I see as a really great way to launch each new year.

I have some grief about yesterday's very special day.
There were too many empty seats. I would like
a handful of tickets to pass
out to special folks that I know would gain from
this event.

Ken Druck and his team of volunteers and board members pulled
together a very rich and powerful day of teaching.

I am going to point out on the PLANT YOUR DREAM BLOG
some of the powerful messages that touched me.

I want to make sure that I make the most of the event
by putting into action some of the teachings that were shared.

I am using this blog and others in this series to help me
have my BEST YEAR EVER.

The Closing Session of BEST YEAR EVER '09 ended with
MARK VICTOR HANSEN. He sharied that he writes out his Goals
on a Powerpoint. That is how I intend to use this Blog.

I am going to upload photos both from '08 and previous years
as well as the '09 BEST YEAR EVER event to set the Pillars
for my Best Year Ever!

I want to give thanks for so many wonderful teachers
who gave so much.

A highlight was spending time with BRIAN HILLIARD. He is the SOUL MATE inspiration
of ARIELLE FORD. When I set time aside last week to go to the BEST YEAR EVER event,
it was four days before show timel I began stirring up the seed to go. I studied the program.
I was delighted that Arielle Ford was speaking.

Last summer I spend time with Arielle and her husband Brian at the Del Mar Races.
Our mutual friend, GARY SEIDLER brought us together. Arielle recognized me before I recognized her.
She had been at Rabbi Stan Levy's High Holiday services many years ago. She brought
NORMAN LEAR. She might have seen me read
a poem at the service. I came to the races to spend time with Gary. Arielle helped market the early books
of CHICKEN SOUP FOR THE SOUL. I feel a great rapport with Brian, her soul mate. Arielle was needing
some space that day at the races. I had some Farmers' Market food with me, and that felt like an ice breaker. I gave Brian one of the SEVEN LOVE CURES to read oul loud to his beloved Arielle.

Arielle has a new book called SOUL MATE SECRETS: HOW To MANIFEST THE LOVE OF YOUR LIFE
Brian is the love of her life. I found him a delight and appreciate being held in high regard by him.

We talked about spending some quality time together at BEST YEAR EVER before
the event.

I met Brian within about ten minutes after arriving at the Best Year Ever.

When I came in, I found a sweet place for KEEP the BEET Media Star.
No sooner was she placed in an honored way, then Brian appeared.
He was with MARCIE SHIMOFF, and some other great folks.



When Brian came up, he introduced his companions and introduced
them to KEEP the BEET Media Star. I had instant recognition with Marci.
I believe I have met her numbers of times at the HCI booth
at BEA.

I knew she was a CHICKEN SOUP AUTHOR. When Mark was on stage
he introduced Marci as being the writer of most of the CHICKEN SOUP
Women's books.

Marci's new book is called HAPPY FOR NO REASON.
She says, keep a gratitude journal. Write down five things you are grateful for
each day.

One of my intentions at the Best Year Ever '09 was to give energy to Arielle's book.
I sought out her spot where she was signing soon after she spoke.
I got there before Brian. He arrived huffing and puffing.
He had some difficulty finding her spot.

MARCi and the other woman in the photo to the left showed up there too.
The woman to the left had lovely eyes with deep soul. I told her so.
She told me she had numbers of books she had written, including a New York Times
Best Seller. I told her I blogged She said she wanted to send me her books.
Marci was in a rush to go listen to the next speaker, but she took a photo for me.
It did not show the eyes as I saw them.

The woman with the lovely soul eyes was PEGGY McCOLL

TEACHINGS OF THE DAY:

We Overestimate what we can do in a short period of time.
We Underestimate how much we can do in a year.

I FREQUENTLY OVERESTIMATE WHAT I CAN DO IN A SHORT TIME.
I UNDERESTIMATE HOW MUCH I CAN DO IN A YEAR IF I KEEP MY FOCUS
ON MY GOALS.
