Well, it's on to week 2 and I'm down 10 pounds! My goal for today was to be at 173 pounds and I'm at 170. Not bad! It's definitely noticable in my tummy more than anywhere but I can see a difference allover. I fell lighter and less jiggly.
Today was somewhat of a difficult day, not terrible, but one of the hardest. I woke up feeling very exhausted and would feel okay right after one of my "meals" but after about an hour I would feel very foggy, very out of it...a little like I was about to pass out. I was craving foods like CRAZY today! I went to the local farmer's market and there was SO much delicious food being sold like cookies, donuts, roasted nuts, cider, and samples of chocolate, meats, honey, wine, cheeses...OH! I had my boyfriend sample everything so I could live vicariously through him. It's Saturday so I don't have to work and I desperately wanted to do what we usually do on a Saturday which is go out to eat. I began planning exactly what I would eat on which days when I was off of this diet. Americans defintitely take food for granted.
One thing about this diet is you have to slowly transition yourself off of it to get your digestive system working again. You don't want to just jump right into steak dinners or else you'll risk gaining all of the weight back. I have to spend 7 days afterwards slowly adding real foods back into my diet. Thanksgiving will be on the 7th day so that will be my first real meal. So it's actually more like a 4 week diet.
On the first day after I'll eat a salad (without dressing) instead of drinking my veggie juice and have a protein shake. The second day I'm allowed a bowl of whole grain cereal (I love raw, extra-thick rolled oats mixed with honey in vanilla rice milk). The third day I can introduce a cup of fruit. The fourth day I can add oils to my salad; the fifth I can eat proteins like eggs, nuts, and beans; and the sixth day I can eat meat. I want my Thanksgiving meal to consist of things like free-range turkey, organic vegetables and sauces, and whole grains. I'm thinking of making raw vegan chocolate cake for dessert. It's very delicious and made of things like avacado, walnuts, maple syrup, and organic cocoa.
That's pretty much what today's been like. Me planning food. I still have 2 weeks to go so I need to stop getting so excited!
