Friday, August 22, 2008, Day 5 of water fast

a.m. Weight 199 lbs., 12 pound loss since Monday

I finally broke the 200 lb. barrier. It's been 5.5 years since I've been under 200 lbs. I have to say it feels great. It makes all the sacrifice worthwhile and I am not talking about just the last five days, but the past 50 days. Since starting eating clean on July 1, 2008, I have dropped 34 lbs. I have had my ups and downs in my weight, but generally my weight has been dropping consistently as long as I stick to my water/juice fast goals coupled with clean eating and regular exercise.

I ran some errands today and felt great. It's been raining everyday for the past 6 days here in Houston so it was nice to see the sun today. I did not feel weak and did not experience any dizziness the entire day. My wife and I went to the gym at around 9:00 p.m. tonight. We decided to do cardio first and then the sauna. I did an hour on the eliptical trainer at about 80% of my max heart rate. I had a good sweat but did not feel out of breath at all. We only spent 15 minutes in the dry sauna. I made sure to drink plently of water during my work out. I probably drank about 1/2 gallon during my workout.

Tomorrow is measurement day, I know I dropped some more inches on my waist and stomach area. I still plan to continue my water fast until Monday morning and then I plan to start a juice fast until I drop to about 170 lbs. I'll eat clean for 2 weeks to stablize my weight at around 180 lbs. or so. Then I will do another juice fast to drop the to the 158 lbs. range so I can stablize around 165-168 lb. range.

Thank for checking in. If you are currently on a water or juice fast, just remember the first three days are the toughest and then it a matter of resisting the temptation of given in to cravings. Hang in there, it is tough, but it will all be worthwhile in the end. Good luck.
