I have had my eyes opened to the Wonders of
The Biotech Revolution in recent days.

After speaking to a number of the nation's
leading science teachers for kids,
I now see that I have been doing Biotech all along.

My goal yesterday was to show some of my morning garden
innovations to the Governor of California and introduce
him to Keep the Beet. Keep the Beet Media Star,
is a friend of mine. We are in constant conversation.
I was a bit sidetracked from that goal, but I am sure
we will have another opportunity to talk face to face.

Keep the Beet is a locally grown organic beet.
She lives in a pot of Foxfarm Organic Soil.
She has a program for America and the world
that is a bit radical. She is asking that the world
return to 100% Organically Grown by 2025.

I personally believe that Keep the Beet is being a bit
unreasonable in her requests, but in perspective,
she may not be any more radical that some of my new friends
here at BIO. BIO stands for Biotechnology Industry Organization.

I am sure that there are many members of BIO who who like to see
the world be 100% Genetically Modified, using Scientific approaches,
by the year 2025.

There are many approaches to gene manipulation.
For the sake of the World, and that truly I do believe
is a goal of BIO, as well as those in the Organic Trade Association (OTA)
we need to be working together.

Dr. Bernard Jensen 1908-2001) was the greatest
manipulator of Genes I have ever known.

One day, he came upon a grapefruit tree
at his Hidden Valley Health Ranch,
one of the oldest Health Ranches of its era.
Hidden Valley Health Ranch, now the Hidden Valley Spa
and Retreat, is located in Escondido, CA.

Dr. Bernard Jensen tasted that grapefruit.
The damn tree was basically
too sour. He had enough after many years
of tending to that tree. He told his head gardener Polinar
to rip the tree out. He replaced it with another
grapefruit. The new tree grew some of the most delightful
sweet tasting fruit I have ever experienced.

You can still go up to the Old Ranch
during the Valentine Season
of the year and have one of those delightful fruits.

Dr. Bernard Jensen was into the Essene Way of Biotech.

He always thought that going the Natural Route was
the best way to Genetically Modify. He based his
way of thinking on more than 8000 years of nature wisdom
as practiced by some of the greatest M.D.'s of his age.
He also trusted his own Intuition, a skill that comes naturally
to human beings when they Keep the Beet and Keep the Beat
with Mother Nature.

Among those in Dr. Bernard Jensen's school of thought
was Luther Burbank. In his TRAINING OF THE HUMAN PLANT (1907)
Luther Burbank recognized that growing the ULTIMATE Plant and growing
the ULTIMATE Genius of a Child could be fostered by applying the same principles.

Luther Burbank believed that every child needed a garden and rocks to roll
for proper genetic unfoldment. Burbanks model for Plant and Child Growth
was based on a natural model of Gene Modification. He believed that the best
in both a plant and a child came out through when a child learns to Keep the beat
through abundant Nature Contact.

Dr. Jensen's favorite remedy for gene modification was love,
however, on rare occasions he did meet with a sour grapefruit.

Dr. Bernard Jensen was more the Gardener in his genetic engineering
approach that the Mechanic. Today, Science has the inside track
on Gene Modification. I say that from a perspective of Business Success.

One of Dr. Bernard Jensen's favorite ways to do gene modification was
through water fasting and bowel cleansing.

We wrote a book about how to modify the bloodstream
with Chlorophyll. Jensen traveled the world many times over.
One of his passions was studying old men and what rules they
applied to their personal lives that allowed them to live so long.

He, as Leon DeSeblo, a friend of President Roosevelt,
believed that through Algae we could feed the world.
Chlorella was DeSeblo's favorite algae.

I met DeSeblo when he was 105.

More on Dr. Jensen's Natural Biotech approaches later.
You can Google Dr. Bernard Jensen Centennial Celebration
for more about this Biotech Genius who favored Natural Approaches
to Gene Modification.

Got to run and catch up with the Biotech Revolution
down at the SD Convention Center.

Your Enchanted Gardener,
Leslie

The organic industry continues to grow worldwide. Here are some statistics regarding this burgeoning market.

Organic farming is practiced in approximately 100 countries throughout the world, with more than 24 million hectares (59 million acres) now under organic management. Australia leads with approximately 10 million hectares (24.6 million acres), followed by Argentina, with approximately 3 million hectares (7.4 million acres); both have extensive grazing land. Latin America has approximately 5.8 million hectares (14.3 million acres) under organic management, Europe has more than 5.5 million hectares (13.5 million acres), and North America has nearly 1.5 million hectares (3.7 million acres).
