Sunday June 22. She is a the Forefront of the International movement toward

to grow a Sister beet in a pot of fine soil, and then Keep the Beet, and continue

Fanna-Fi-Allah ( Grass Valley California )
Qawwali is an ancient practice where in the fire of divine love (ishq) is ecstatically expressed through the mystical verses of Sufi poets, sung in Urdu, Farsi, Hindi and Punjabi. The origins of Qawwali music date back over seven hundred years to the spiritual Samah songs of Persia . Qawwali's passionate devotional themes of love are divinely inspired by a mystical relationship with Allah. The foremost expression in this music is through the voice, accompanied by two harmoniums, booming Pakistani tablas, hand clapping and the tampura. It is traditionally performed in Sufi shrines where the audience participation is integral to the prayerful yet ecstatic atmosphere.

The Middle-Earth Ensemble is a San Diego based group that performs music for belly dance and other festive occasions at many local venues. Their gypsy-infused sound has fueled the hips of many a belly dancer in the Southern California area, and has led to their popularity in San Diego . The musicians derive their influences from many different styles, including Arabic, Persian, Turkish, folk, jazz, classical, rock and improvisational music. Ariah Firefly is a singer from the heart. She was born to sing in Brooklyn, New York . Hence the name of her first full length album: "Brooklyn Dreams". Currently, Ariah is living in Encinitas, CA and Los Angeles recording her next record with Thomas Barquee. It is a kirtan/devotional CD to uplift consciousness. It is also a divine transmission for awakening. In LA, besides Ariah's original project, Ariah is a healer using ancient Egyptian methods as well as ancient Taoist alchemy and healing. Ariah has had a history of being a professional songwriter and performing for years professionally live and in the studio jazz, soul and pop music. Baba Arjun ( Santa Cruz California )
Arjun's unique style of music mixes reggae mixed with eastern vocals. From 1996 to 1997 he performed kirtan at the yoga center Jivamukti, a place where notable influences Krishna Das and Bhagavan Das regularly attended. This inspired Arjun to travel to India in 1998. He spent his time chanting at temples with the local babas and learning mrdunga drum and harmonium. He acquired his first harmonium prior to departing India and moving to Santa Cruz, California in 1999. In the year 2000 Arjun formed the eastern vocal party Bhajananandi, which released 3 cds: Bhajananandi (2000) and Bhajananandi II & III (2001). Arjun is also a singer in the newly formed Qawwali group Fanna -Fi-Allah, who have traveled to Pakistan to stay and study with the great qawwals, including Rahat Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan and Party. A DVD documenting the pilgrimage will be available soon.

Kristi Bride ( Los Angeles California )
Kristi Bride wrote her first song at the age of two and a half called "Too many moons in the sky" for her 91 year-old Grandma. With over 300 poems to her credit and a book of poetry about to be published, she is a soul who taps into the human consciousness on both an intimate and a global level. She often brings fresh insight into the interactions of people, nature, and spirit. Transcending mass media and societal norms/views that, in her opinion, are no longer valid in the new millennium is a common theme in her poetry and music. You can catch her spoken word/poetry on the song "Trainjumping" that is part of a compilation CD "Live From Nowhere Near You". She shares the bill with some of her favorite artists: director Gus Van Sant, Mike Mc Cready and Stone Gossard of Pearl Jam, Brad Hargraves from Third Eye Blind, and many others.
