John Lambo
a fothcoming best seller author
has been in touch with me about desiring photos
of Melanie, the trailer named after Flower Era singer
Melanie who retreated there in the early 70's.

He is writing a book about the woman who
in 1971 wrote a song called "Brand New Key."
This was one of her first popular songs on both sides of the Atlantic.

When I arrived at Dr. Bernard Jensen's ranch in the Fall of 1972,
it took me a time to make it up the hill to the house where the Dr
had his personal home and some trailers.

Dr Jensen had numbers of Hollywood personalities among his friends.
He worked with more than 350,000 patients. Some were in the "Movies."

This was a man who lived across decades, so of course some of the
stars he knew belonged to other generations.

He would speak of Gloria Swanson, as an example, an early 30's Star who
he helped. Dennis Weaver, whose life also expanded decades, also became
a friend. He did the intro to one of Dr. Bernard Jensen's most popular DVD's

DR. BERNARD JENSEN
HIS Quest for HEALTH & HAPPINESS

When I came to live with Dr. Jensen, he owned the 100-acre ranch down
below that was called the Hidden Valley Health Ranch. Later, this 100-acre ranch
was sold a number of times, and finally landed in the hands of its current owners,
the Self Realization Fellowship. After the ranch was sold, Dr. Jensen continued
to live and see patients for many years on the parcel up above. That land
is currently in the hands of Steven and Fiona Markowitz, a beautiful married
couple with a lovely family life and numbers of successful businesses
including Party Hats.

When the land below was sold to SRF, the land up above, his former retreat,
became the Hidden Valley Health Ranch.
They just transported the Sign and renamed his personal 12+ acre retreat.
That sign is still out today.

It was here in one of the trailors up above, where I eventually lost my ability to walk.
Jensen often told a story that he carried me from trailer to trailer. He was referring
to those trailers.

One Trailer was named Melanie.

It was named after a singer who wrote a song that I had heard
before I came to the ranch.
That song was called "Brand New Key."

I heard that Melanie the singer had retreated in that trailer.
That was why they called the trailer Melanie.

Fast Forward to Now.

We are _____days away from Dr. Bernard Jensen's Centennial Celebration.
The Dr. himself has promised to be as his own party.

You can hear him say that on the Centennial Celebration site here.

This would really be a Class Act
for him to show up, being that his years on earth in the body
are officially noted as 1908-2001.

I never knew the Dr. to lie, although he was a great Storyteller. He was known
to lean toward exaggeration to make a point.

How will he show up???

He often said, we go to Heaven on the Coat tails of those we love.
It also holds truth, we live forever on earth, through the lives of those
we have touched. We can each be his Legacy.
We are each called now to Keep the Beet that he heard.
That beet today would like finding a Brand New Key to
what it inherently means to be a part of Natural Health Care.

What is Natural Health Care?
Dr. Bernard Jensen knew.
It is time to remember.

Dr.Bernard Jensen touched my life.
I call him my Spiritual Father. He helped me walk the path I am walking today.
We had our bouts. We had our rough moments, and our divorces.
We always got back together, like a Father and a Son do.

Now I am hearing from John Lambo who is writing a book about Melanie,
whose name was identified by a trailer that still stands on the property of the
Hidden Valley Health Ranch, the personal home part, that is now the Hidden Valley Spa.

John just joined the Enchanted Garden Club today.
He would like me to take a photo of "Melanie," the trailer for his new book
on the life of Melanie.

I am sure Melanie loved Dr. Bernard Jensen.
I am sure she has her own story to tell about him.
I am sure Melanie learned something about Natural Health Care
during the time she retreated in the trailer named Melanie.

I am sure the Dr. is jumping up and down right now
because he knows how this story can turn out.

"Brand New Key" by Melanie

One novelty song always breaks through into the singles' charts during the Xmas period, and Melanie's "Brand New Key" fulfilled this function perfectly as 1971 drew to a close. It was her biggest hit on both sides of the Atlantic, spending three weeks at No.I in the U.S. Even the most casual pop fan will instantly recognise the infectious "I got a brand new pair of roller-skates, you got a brand new key" chorus (some U.S. radio stations, fearing corrupt innuendo, banned it from the airwaves), but Melanie's own fans may not know that a whole four hours of studio time was spent 'preparing' a piano with paper clips, tacks and clothes pegs. This produced the instantly hummable 8-note piano refrain, and may be the first time such a technique was used on a No.1 record. Eat your heart out, John Cage! What Melanie didn't conceive was the "hump-ah-ha" backing vocals, which were added later. I asked Melanie just how much say she had in the studio: "I had total control because I was married to the producer," she stated emphatically, before qualifying it. "There were lots of things that he did which I didn't agree with, but I'd let him have his way 'cos he got me hit records!" "Brand New Key" also ended up on Arcade's "20 Fantastic Hits".
