It is almost game time, I feel like a teenager again, I remember sitting in my Bronx house watching the footbal; upset of the century, at least in my opinion.

Broadway Joe Namath, a superb passer and prophet, led the new York Jets to a 16-7 victory over the Baltimore Colts on Sunday in a Super Bowl upset that was almost as unbelievable as the Apollo 8 moon shot.

Pegged as 16-point underdogs by the oddsmakers and a collection of misfits by National Football League partisans, the Jets fired out and destroyed what many regarded as a pro football dynasty. (Sounds like thePats?)

The Jets surely killed another myth. For years, people had been rejecting the American Football League as inferior to the established NFL. Not any more.

It was a monumental year for me. i saw Super Joe Namath , Emerson Boozer, My Idol Don Maynard, Randy Beverly and the rest lead the former AFL New York Titans to a superbowl victory.

We saw the impossible dream when Gil Hodges and his young Miracle Met's team also drove a stake into the heart of the Baltimore Orioles. It was destiny that NY would twice upset Baltimores roster of legends and superstars.

the Jets outplayed Baltimore in almost every way possible before 75,377 in the Orange Bowl. Mostly it was because Broadway Joe, their shaggy-haired quarterback, completed 17 of 28 passes for 206 yards and kept the Colts off balance with his near-perfect play calling.

"It is a victory for the entire American Football League," Namath said in the mobbed Jet dressing room.

"We overcame our critics. Most people had predicted that we'd lose by something like 42-13."

I was a teenager and in my glory. my two favorite teams were world champions.

Two weeks ago, The New York Giaants finally overcame the Green Bay Packers Jinx and overcame the frigid Green Bay weather to pull out an amazing victory.

So here I am, unfortunately, not in NYC, the greatest city in the world. But, a small redneck Montana town full of New York haters. Butthat's okay.

Sometimes it is hard for others to understand the pride that comes along with being a native New Yawker. What it was like growing up on the streets of the South bronx only blocks away from the once home of the NY Giants and NY Yankees. Two teams that are more than a name, they are an identity and are a monument to the NY never say die attitude.

The pride of running a football on the same field as the "Seven Blocks of Granite." is something I have never forgotten. I walked on the same field as Vince Lombardi

a proud Fordham University Legend who said

• "If you believe in yourself and have the courage, the determination, "It is essential to understand that battles are primarily won in the hearts of men."

"In great attempts, it is glorious even to fail."
"Leaders are made, they are not born. They are made by hard effort, which is the price which all of us must pay to achieve any goal that is worthwhile."
"The harder you work, the harder it is to surrender."
"It's not whether you get knocked down, it's whether you get up."
• "The quality of a person's life is in direct proportion to their commitment to excellence, regardless of their chosen field of endeavor."

"There's only one way to succeed in anything, and that is to give it everything. I do, and I demand that my players do."
"If you aren't fired with enthusiasm, you'll be fired with enthusiasm."
"Once you learn to quit, it becomes a habit."
"Winning isn't everything--but wanting to win is."
