"The ability to be understanding separates humans from animals: not to react to pain in like kind, but to be considerate and deliberate in your reactions, knowing full well that your actions may not be correct in the long run, but that they are the proper thing to do at that time."

In 2008 Things Will Be Great
by Douglas James Cottrell

Can't you just feel it? It seems as if a great weight has been lifted from all those who have strived to endure the upheavals of last year. You may have noticed that people are being vindicated where they have been falsely accused and those that have been getting away with things now are suffering under the light of exposure. Indeed it has been a strange time. Mars in December was closest to the earth than it has been for quite a while bringing with it trying times. Now Jupiter is affecting the earth and this seems to have monumental opportunities or consequences. 2008 will have great things occur.
We should see positive announcements and progression for serious diseases like Alzimers. There will be good news like this in 2008 for those with AIDS and I believe more breakthroughs in treatment for Autistic children. This ongoing research of the subatomic worlds and the understanding of how both virus and bacteria can be stopped in their invasion of the human body will be better understood; treatments using light and sound frequencies will bring about remedy or relief for a variety of dangerous diseases. Already laser light therapy for cold sores and other mouth issues is available at dental offices. These recent breakthroughs seem to fulfill predictions I made in the 1970’s in using sound and light implements in pathology and procedures including surgery.

There is more good news…
In previous communications, we had recounted the dream/vision of several years ago predicting that my team and I would be working in a Catholic Church to do Miracle Transformation Events™ (MTEs). We had been guided to take our team on the road and so we have, up until now, made appearances at Libraries, Hotels, and community centers doing our MTE’s. Along the way, we had been given glimpses of the future facility in our dreams. Where the location was remained a mystery as we patiently awaited further “guidance." In late 2007, someone who comes to our events in Toronto mentioned a facility that he thought would be receptive to us: a Catholic church which regularly holds meetings of groups representing the various religions of the world. It not only seemed to be open to all faiths, it also seemed to fit the vision of our future place.
I drove to Toronto to check out the facility. It fits the vision almost exactly: the Catholic church with the winding uphill road and a cemetery across the street. Feeling assured that this is the place I should be, I parked the car and went to the door. It was after 4 pm. I looked through the plate-glass door, but no one was behind the reception desk. Just as I started to leave, the receptionist appeared and opened the door. Making my intention known to her, she mentioned that the lady who books events was supposed to have gone for the day, but she would try her extension to see if she was still in. By coincidence the nice lady was in, and she showed me the entire place.

We have booked our next MTE event at this facility: Scarborough Mission, Brimley and Kingston Roads, Toronto, Ontario, 2:00 PM, Sunday, February 3, 2008.

Indeed 2008 will be great.

FROM THE DTM SESSIONS: The War in Iraq

Q: With the recent changes in government in the US, will the Americans and their forces withdraw from Iraq and what will happen if the US pulls out of Iraq?

A: As we would examine this situation in the country mentioned, you would find there will be indeed some strong requirements for leadership. There will not be an immediate withdrawal from this country but instead there will be a gradual intention to completely remove the troops from this, the Americans, and other of the allies or coalition forces that are within this region. We would examine here and find that there will both be an intention to increase the troops as there will be internal difficulties at improving the security or quelling the different factions. These factions are seeking civil war and are in fact warring with each other. There will be an attempt to move towards Iran and unite or to rise up with them as an independent, let us say co-dependent, region in the world itself. We see the return of these the Americans themselves but not after some time. They will remain at least towards the end of the Presidential term but we do find some controversy, some blaming, within the governmental structure between the democrats and the republicans or between the democratic presidential candidates and the previous government or president. Therefore in examining this which is rather complicated, and there are several minds associated with this complication it would be from our perspective at this point to see that there will be one more thrust or one more attempt to quell the factions and then it would be a matter of indifference but since there is no internal let us say cooperation or capability- but indeed there seems to be a leaning towards other Arab states- the Americans would leave. Thereafter we would expect here a rather darkness to come across the country and there will be further atrocities, for here this particular region is full of hate and there is no expectation that the Americans will remain, for they usually withdraw before any settlement or any permanency occurs in any country or region they have with their military might influenced. Therefore the factions will wait and as there is a withdrawal of the other nations upon the world, there will be blood in the streets.

WHAT IS IMPORTANT, AND WHAT IS NOT

In the search to get closer to God Almighty, certain trials in life come to us. To discern what is important and what is not takes a lifetime. If we take a hint from that Biblical story of the two Marys, you may recall the scene where Jesus is sitting on the porch of the house with the first Mary enjoying a conversation. The second Mary is busy with house chores as guests are coming over. The second Mary admonishes the first for not helping with the housework. The lesson is that Jesus admonishes the second Mary and says to her that the house-cleaning is not important, even though guests may be coming, but the friendly conversation or time spent with his friend (the first Mary) is important.

This circumstance can be seen in daily life when there always seems to be something to get done at the expense of not taking time for a friend, family, spouse or children. All too soon life is over, and those precious moments are gone forever. Take time to spend time and enjoy time with a friend. We live in the present moment and we have complete choice on how we live that moment. The past is unchangeable, the future is uncertain, but the moment now is yours. If you enjoy this moment, by choosing to do so, and by doing something to make it so, your memories of the past will only be pleasant. Your expectation of the future will also be improved.

MEDITATION ADVICE FROM DOUGLAS

Q. Christianity is the only mainstream religion that does not meditate. Whenever I mention meditation to a person that goes to a Protestant church, they commonly reply with something close to "that's evil and is the devil's work." How do I help the close-minded achieve a higher understanding of the God they pray to without diverting them or changing their religious views?

A. Although it is not formally practiced by all Christians in their daily lives here in the West, meditation is very much a Christian practice. The fundamentalist type you refer to, who make discouraging remarks and/or judgements about meditation, usually have an uninformed view and see meditation as an Eastern religious practice which requires a yoga pose and chanting. Let me assure you this is not an informed view of the Christian faith at all. In fact, there is a clear direction in the Bible to engage in this practice: “Meditate upon these things; give thyself wholly to them; that thy profiting may appear to all” (1 Timothy 4:15). The terms "meditate" and "meditation" appear no less than 21 times in the Bible. Those who have been to monasteries, seminaries and retreats have seen for themselves students of the Christian faith in silent introspection and contemplation (meditation, in other words).
Upon examination, Christian traditions have various practices which should be understood as "meditation," from chanting prayers and Bible verses, to reflecting on passages from scripture (which is explained in Joshua 1:18). The practice of focusing on an object to distract the rational, conscious mind and turning inward to open up the contemplative mind (or the spiritual aspect of yourself) is a form of meditation. What can be evil about seeking to be united with God through acquiring an inner stillness, and ignoring of the physical senses?
How do you help those who fail to see meditation in this way? My suggestion is not to help indiscriminately. There is a Christian saying that you should not throw pearls in front of swine. This means, do not waste wisdom on the ignorant or disinterested. When you encounter someone who you may want to help, I suggest you ask yourself, “Am I interfering or intervening in their spiritual understanding?” If you are interfering (and you will know when the discussion turns to debate and argument), then it is best to become quiet. If there is interest in what you know, then give the listener some information, a spoonful at a time. Allow them to have the privledge of enjoying their spiritual discovery along their path - as you, yourself, have done. And finally, accept those who may not believe as you believe. After all, there are many pathways up that mountain, but there is only one peak where all paths meet..
