Agriculture the best buffer...
Wild right up to the houses,,,,
People thinking in terms of houses safe..
Park like aesthetic and practical...
reality check
use of land
housing prices...
people thought make all this money
with real estate.
not being realistic--
treating the land as a speculative resouce,,,
The farmers have been struggling...
30 % water cutbacks in January 08.
Fairview Farm
maybe 60% per acre..
Michael Ableman....
Erik Larsen (sp?)--Farm Bureau
spoke...we lost 10 % of avocado groves....
I believe Rob said....he heard....on radio...

During this time of loss and difficulty for the county many of our farmers have suffered.
Besides the crop losses from the wind and lack of water, some growers lost houses, equipment and outbuildings.
Be Wise Ranch- Grower Bill Brammer lost his house, office and greenhouse. Crops and irrigation have sustained damage as well. I have not been able to get through to speak directly to them and we will let them regroup until we are able to offer their products again.
Sage View- Marc Doig lost his packing facility in Rincon, all packing equipment, packaging and fruit.
Budwood Farms- Larry Nedeau lost his house and much of his grove and vegetable crops in Fallbrook.
Many other growers were affected with damage to greenhouses, lack of water due to evacuations or power loss and loss of fruit due to power loss.
Let's do what we can to help these farmers along with our other neighbors in the county to deal with these difficulties and rise again.
Best regards,
Robert
