I've maintained the weight loss. Although I do fluctuate back and forth by 1/2 a lb. I can live with that while my body continues adjusting to eating again. The supermarket is challenging on my new plan but after being on Atkins for so long (on & off) I pretty much have the idea of what I'm trying to do: reduced calorie diet, little to no sugar or processed food, moderate whole grains & beans and controlled amount of fat to add flavor and fill me up. My big challenge is getting up to 1200 calories a day. Last night I noticed my appetite was to the point of ravenous. Uh-oh. I didn't like how that felt at all. I was in a rush to prepare and enjoy my dinner of vegetarian beans, tomatoes, onion, cilantro, peppers and a mixed veggie salad with 1 oz. of advocado so that I could eat it. 

So last night I prepared my menu for today and decided to eat a more hearty breakfast of scrambled egg whites, mushrooms, jalepenos, onion, tomatoe, 1 oz. of cheddar and 1/2 a grapefruit. But my body doesn't feel happy with it at all. It's just sitting there. For lunch I've been having 2 tbsp. of spicy hummus with tomatoe & 1 oz. of advocado wrapped in a big romaine lettuce leaf and a slice of pineapple. I can't possible get that down today and eat my dinner tonight of a shrimp and spinach salad. Hopefully my body will adjust to having a more hearty breakfast. If not, I'll go back to fruit in the morning.

I just didn't want the bulk of my calories to be coming at dinner time. I know it should be reversed. But hey, if it doesn't work for me, it doesn't. This is the experimental phase. I have to say, I enjoy all the foods I'm currently eating and my plan seems reasonable to me. It's not all or nothing. All or nothing makes me feel like I'm on a "diet" and then I binge eat on the foods I've deprived myself from. So it doesn't work long-term for me and I want a  long-term plan that I can stick to.  A lifestyle.

I wanted to do a juice only day this past week but since I feel like I'm just getting my feet wet with eating again, I haven't done that so far.  The juice fast was a remarkable event that I will cherish but it did leave me feeling a bit intimidated about food afterwards. I have more respect for food. I know the rights foods in the right amount will keep me vibrant, healthy and slim and the wrong foods will make me sluggish, unenergenic and fat. With all the fad diets out there  it's quite a challenge. I'm up for the challenge though with another 22 pounds to get off this body by fall.
