MSM, Raw Friends, Sungazing

...and raw books, the decision to eat all raw, and more!

Another thing I am trying to take but most often forget is MSM powder in my water. It's for the sulfur. David (Avocado) Wolfe recommends this very highly as do many others. I keep forgetting why I want to use MSM, but every time I look it up it's like, "Oh yes, definitely!" I have such a selective memory, and I'm afraid it has gotten even more selective as I have gotten older. However I do expect my memory will get better and better over time as I continue with the 100% raw vegan diet.

Another thing Avocado (and others) talk a lot about is the importance of writing down goals. They say that writing down goals helps them to happen. So here and now I will write down the goal that I want to have raw vegan friends -- and more and more over time. I feel this would happen anyhow, even without writing it, but I'm in a hurry because I already miss some of my best friends that I have not met yet!!

I slept through the sunrise this morning and missed the sungazing but did catch it at sunset again today (which makes it day #2 for the sungazing). I did 10 seconds yesterday, 20 seconds today.

Even though I said I have been working towards raw diet for 16 years in my post the other day, I have been realizing that that number is a little bit misleading. It was 16 years ago that I first had a long (nearly two-year) successful bout of about 90-100% raw vegan. But the fact is, I first saw raw diet as a goal I wanted to transition to over 22 years ago, in early 1985. In those early years I never even attempted to go all raw, but headed straight for transitional diet and started eating a much, much higher percentage of raw foods. I think this is one of the reasons I look so young for my age now. (I'm nearly 54 years old and my sister who just turned 37 says I look late 30s.) Although I have in the past failed miserably in regard to losing all my extra weight, I like to look at the achievements too.

Over time I have acquired and lost, sold or given away three separate and extensive raw libraries. My last loss of a raw library was just about 9 months ago, when I lost most of my material possessions. I just love raw books. Since then I have picked up probably 10 raw books, 4 of which I actually just ordered this past week and don't have yet! One is the updated version of "12 Steps to Raw" by Victoria Boutenko. I figure that will be a very good one for me at this critical time of "going raw for good." I know I can't say I will never touch cooked food to my lips again, but my goal is that I will not do that at least until I have been all-raw vegan long enough that having a bite or two of cooked will not pull me under and back into my addiction again.

Actually, I think there are two kinds of people -- those who are truly addicted to cooked-processed-etc. food, and those who really are not. I am definitely of the former persuasion, so my hope is that any tastes of cooked foods in the future will be held to a grand minimum and only for super-special occasions, I don't know what. Or maybe I just won't do it and not touch the stuff. For now, I would like to say that my goal is to stay all-raw and all-vegan for at least a year before I even make that decision. Always a good idea to get some clarity before making major decisions, and I feel that taking into account my cooked food addiction I need at least a year of clearing up before moving on with any such thoughts...

Another couple books I ordered are by the same person: Happy Oasis. She has something in there called "Blissiplines" -- disciplines which take and keep a person in a blissful state. I listened to her interview at the Raw Summit about a week ago (http://www.rawsummit.com) and was blown away by her story. She has lived with many tribes around the world, some of whom have since been killed (genocide). She is 100% raw vegan and learned in her travels among great, great suffering and death that one of the best things she has to offer to others is her own happiness. She's also the CVO (Chief Visionary Officer) of the annual Raw Spirit Festival. The 3rd Annual Raw Spirit Festival which is held in or near Sedona, Arizona and this year is October 12-14. Registration is only $295 for those who sign up by August 29th. I really wanted to go this year, but that is right when I will be seeing family and moving a thousand miles, so I will have to wait until next year. You can read more about the festival at

Let's see. What other books am I getting? One is titled something like CELEBRATING OUR RAW NATURE and is a raw recipe book by Dorit. I am not very familiar with Dorit but have heard great things about her, and this particular book is in limited edition due to the high cost of it being bound with 3-ring dividers, etc. (which is so handy for a recipe book, donchano). What really got me was the book review that said "Dorit's culinary skills shine through with her amazing Thai and Indian raw vegan creations," because I really, really love Thai and Indian food! She has another similar book coming out also in October, but I think it has all new recipes. Her website is

Oh, and there's one other book I ordered which is written by Dr. Ruza Bogdanovich (sp) called something like THE CURE IS IN THE CAUSE. I listened to an interview with her on the Raw Summit this past week and it was so awesome that I just HAD to order her book, though I had already spent more than I felt I should on books for the next several months! Her website is
http://www.thecureisinthecause.com.

Okay, maybe that's enough for tonight!

Cheers,
Michele
