Well, why pay taxes if there are no services to save our Butts in emergencies?

'How can I show true compassion for the victims of Katrina?' Here are the results you gave us, in order of importance, along with some representative responses. The trends in your responses were very clear!
1. Pray for peace and restoration for those affected most. - (75.2%)
2. Help collect furniture, clothing, etc to send to those in need. - (56.2%)
3. Send my tithe to a reputable help organization. - (48.2%)
4. Take a family into our home while they re- establish theirs. - (27%)
5. Go down to personally help rebuild. ¯ (23.9%)
6. Encourage the government to step in and take care of the needs. - (12.8%)
7. None of the above - (4.4%)
And here are a few adamant responses --
NO ONE should depend on the government for anything in their personal lives -- EVER!!!! This event has truly exposed the great manmade disaster our Welfare State and Programs have become. When the Feds decided to take church and charities out of the 'caring for our poor' equation -- this is what we get.
Pray for revival for no man or government can truly save us!
Get the government out of our lives, reduce taxes to no more than 10%, get rid of the Federal Reserve, put our money back on the gold standard. then we would all be wealthy and be able to freely give to those in need.
My tithe goes to the local church, but much deeper digging into personal finances need to go to Katrina'a victims.
Send money. Not my tithe, but definitely over and above with an offering. I am doing without my 'wants' so others can have their 'needs' met.
This is the church's hour!!
Prayer first. Second, quit being so critical of the federal government and place some accountability on the people themselves. It is our responsibility to take care of ourselves, family, then neighbors. It is only the government's responsibility to assist - not totally take care of people.
Walk the walk, talk the talk...as fellow human beings we have an obligation to help one another. It's not the government's job.
Encourage people to stop depending on the government to take care of them.
