Western Civilization
Very interesting survival talk-

Dear A-Letter Reader:
When Mahatma Ghandi was asked what he personally thought of Western
Civilization, the revered leader of India said he thought "it would be a
good idea."
Putting aside Ghandi's clever, Third World reply, and allowing for many
global cultural differences, we do believe in the superiority of Western
Civilization and the particular cultural heritage that has been dominant
in Europe and the Americas for many centuries and now has spread worldwide.
Even so astute an observer as Pres. George Bush has described the London
bombings as "an attack on the civilized world."
Efraim Halevy, ex-head of Mossad, the Israeli Secret Intelligence Service
who until recently was head of the Israel National Security Council says:
"We're now in a world war and the terrorist enemy wants to obliterate
western civilization. The aim of this enemy is not to defeat but to destroy
its sources of power and existence, and to render it a relic of the past.
It doesn't seek a territorial victory or a regime change; it wants to turn
western civilization into history and will stop at nothing less than that."
Caught in titanic tidal cross currents such as these, what are you, as a
Sovereign Individual, to do?
Certainly survival is the first imperative. We at the Sovereign Society
have provided many suggestions for protection of self and assets; foreign
residency in more peaceful climes, such as Switzerland or Panama;
relocation of assets to nations where financial privacy and safety is far
more certain; means to increase your wealth to finance the ways that achieve
these safety-oriented changes in your personal and financial lifestyle.
What is not needed is more of the window dressing politicians have fed us
like so much pap; intrusions on, and abolition of, our liberties in a vain
attempt to find the terrorist needle in the universal haystack; surveillance
cameras and wiretaps aimed at terrorists who know full well they may be
watched and act accordingly; billions wasted on an even greater bumbling
bureaucracy at airports and banks as spies.
Surveillance of millions of innocent people is not the human and true
"intelligence" that is really needed to ferret out these monsters.
When London was under Nazi air attacks in World War II, George Orwell wrote
in an essay: "Patriotism and intelligence will have to come together again.
It is the fact that we are fighting a war, and a very peculiar kind of war,
that may make this possible."
Sadly, I don't see any real tendency for an end to politics as usual in
America; just the opposite. But I think we all have a serious need to
recognize that in this not unprecedented war, the basic issue is civilization
itself. The barbarians already are inside the gates.
That's the way it looks from here.
