Compassion
Getting out of one's self and one's head to be present for another's growth...
Date: 6/1/2005 1:13:31 PM ( 19 y ) ... viewed 1101 times Compassion means creating an open, nuturing, creative space for another person. There is a close relationship between the Hebrew word for "compassion", rachum or racham, and for "womb", racham, or rechem. Compassion means offering a womblike space, setting self-interest aside to make room for the other to reveal herself or himself and to grow. Inner housekeeping creates a space for another by cleaning up preoccupations, hurts, jealousies, and angry feelings. Then we can give full attention to the one we recieve as guest.
