Intermittent fast day 3

Very early entry- midnight. Yesterday's post was so long I figure to just start the new post.

12am
I actually just got back from the gym.
Around 10pm I just had lots of energy. I got a nap in the afternoon and hadn't had any big physical activity all day. I had eaten more than I would have liked to. I wanted to do one meal as I had been doing the previous days (usually late in the afternoon). However, I woke up with a pretty good appetite. I kept the meal small but by mid afternoon I ate without being aware and present with what I was doing. I ate in a rush. I ate more than what I really needed to. I mean I wasn't full but portion wise it was unnecessary. Granted it is still less than what I consume before the fast; however, after fasting I really don't need to eat as much. This was evident as I was feeling quite full even after several hours, especially knowing it was a heavy protein meal. Despite all that, I still decided to eat some napa cabbage with home made salsa about a cup worth. I just noticed how my old patterns of eating are so habitual and automatic. I really need to focus on having to stay very present and not let schedules dictate when I eat. I don't believe my body needs regularly scheduled meals. I need to listen to my body and hunger. That will vary based on my energy output and the quality/quantity of food I consume. It's all relative. When you have a family of 6 it seems someone is always eating. One eats, everyone seems to follow. It's like yawning. One yawns and we all seem to mirror the behavior. It takes awareness not to automatically go with everyone's flow. It is especially challenging in social settings. People are so insistent that you consume something when they are eating.

As mentioned earlier, I went to the gym at 10pm and did 30 minutes on the treadmill. I had pretty good energy and didn't have any hip/knee/ankle pain. I did intervals of 2 to 3 minutes walking at 3.4 and running at 5.4-5.8. My last interval I ran at 6.0. I was tired in the end but I felt good. Hit the sauna again and stretched in there. I'm in bed now but my body temp is still quite elevated and sweating a bit. Everyone is knocked out and I am wide awake. Love these moments at night. It's all mine. =)

Another update in the morning. Ciao for now.

Umm one more thing to add. It's amazing how many hits my blog has but no one seems to have any response or comments. It feels strange for people to view your thoughts and feelings and not know what anyone else thinks. Well, I'm doing it for myself obviously but I just hope it helps someone else to put all this out for public view. Anyway....

9:16am
I was so hungry around 1:30am and decided to make myself a lettuce wrap with organic ground beef (half a cup). Left overs from tacos from dinner. I don't really ever eat that late but considering I hit the gym at 10pm, I said what the heck. I slept around 2am and woke up around 5 feeling pretty crappy with what seemed like a mild headache. Physically felt heavy. I went back to sleep and finally got up at 8am. It just didn't feel restful. And I woke up ravenous. What the heck was that all about? I'm not liking what I'm feeling with going back to eating. I wonder if eating is dislodging some old stuff in my colon that was loosened up perhaps during the fast and was releasing toxins? is it animal proteins I consumed, just refeeding in general and the energy it is taking to digest the food or a combination? My hands and abdomen were itchy again. I've always thought that maybe the itching was connected to cholestasis (liver related). I'm wondering about doing a liver flush today and dry fasting after.

12am
I ended up at the gym three times today. First was just before church. Sauna and treadmill.
I was planning on starting to dry fast today but surprise surprise my Aunt who was fasting for the first time decided to come visit. She lives almost 2 hours away. She came by and was planning to visit another friend for lunch. Her friend couldn't make it and so my Aunt insisted on taking me out to Wood Ranch BBQ. Sooooo. I wanted just a salad and she insisted on splitting a prime rib. Siiigghhh. So prime rib it was with grilled vegetable salad. It was pretty heavenly. After that lunch I went to the gym a second time to sauna and get on the treadmill.
In the afternoon I actually drank 2 muscle milk light (sugar free). I hit the gym around 10pm for sauna and the best run I've done so far today on the treadmill. More running intervals at 6.0 for total 25 minutes. Got home an did some really good foam rolling and stretching. I was so darn thirsty after that workout. I must have drank 3 of those large Perrier bottles. I am pretty tired. I hope this will knock me out tonight. I might begin my fast now. I'll confirm in the morning.

Good night everyone.
