Day 1 (Round 2) - First attempt to dry fast (no water/food)

14 days since I started round 1 of water fast. I completed 9 whole days. I started my water fast 11pm last night.

This fast is a water fast with periods of dry fasting. Last time I had anything including water was 11pm last night.

I woke up this morning with inflammation/edema. I kinda expected it with eating Chinese food yesterday. That's how my body typically responds the next day after eating restaurant/fast food. I also had more mucus. Lungs felt heavier and phlegmy. I did lots of outdoor hiking yesterday so I'm not sure how much allergies might have contributed. Interestingly my stomach felt full still as if I just had a meal. I felt thirsty but it was easy to ignore. I went to sauna to sweat out but I skipped the workout. I did a lot yesterday. I hit the treadmill in the morning and did two 30+ minute brisk walk/hike over various hilly terrain in the afternoon. I was so tired that I literally could not keep my eyes open after 11pm. I was knocked out and had no recollection of waking up. I usually have to wake up to pee especially with water fasting. I like the dry fasting since there's not lots to pee out.

It's 12 hours since I had any water. I've peed about 4 times but in pretty concentrated and small amounts. I feel like the inflammation/edema has already improved. I do feel my hip joints aching deeply. Like it's dry and not well lubricated. I'm definitely gonna take it easy physically. I also completed a coffee enema (CE)

12noon
Still dry fasting (DF). Staying in bed easing through this. I've noticed increased salivation this past hour along with hunger. I know doing a coffee enema opens bile duct and releases bile and I usually can feel hunger shortly after I do one. Eventually I will try to DF and skip the CE.

Interestingly, I really don't have food on the brain. It's water! lol. I like it better that way. I was surfing about dry fasting and started to read this :

http://www.fitnessthroughfasting.com/absolute-fasting.html

OMG I realized reading other people's dry fasting journal could not be a good thing. As I was reading all the awful suffering he was enduring I started to feel this sharp pain in my chest. I stopped reading his journal. I did read some of the posts there and was reminded to return my focus on my walk with Christ. I will concentrate on praying every hour while I'm doing DF.

"Lesson #232
Be In My Mind, My Father, Through The Day

Be in my mind, my Father, when I wake, and shine on me throughout the day today. Let every minute be a time in which I dwell with You. And let me not forget my hourly thanksgiving that You have remained. As evening comes, let all my thoughts be still of You and of Your love. And let me sleep sure of my safety, certain of Your care, and happily aware I am Your Son.

This is as every day should be. Today, practice the end of fear. Have faith in Him Who is your Father. Trust all things to Him. Let Him reveal all things to you, and be you undismayed because you are His Son."

6:33pm

4:30-5:30 got a great full body massage. It was the best one I've had for awhile. This Chinese lady just hit everything and really got the tough spots using her forearm and thumbs to macerate my shoulder, lower back, glutes, and hamstrings. I took a bit of a beating and I think I'll be sore. Nevertheless, it was heavenly.

I'm not sure if massage could affect hunger with all those trigger points stimulated. But 6ish I did feel hunger.

I'm approaching my 20th hour of dry fasting.
It's been a pretty good day overall with feeling less hunger than when water fasting. I was thinking about why that might be. I know digestion begins in the mouth but didn't think that water would be included in that rule. I also know that if your stomach receptors are stretched that it triggers digestion. Well, this is fascinating to think about.

I was also worried about headaches but grateful I haven't felt anything significant. Just maybe an occasional feeling as though a headache was going to begin but was gone rather quickly. So grateful for that. I really can't believe I'm only 4 hours away from completing 24hr dry fast. I thought it was going to be much harder especially after reading a couple of peoples journals. I'm glad I decided to stop doing that. I wanted to have only positive intentions for this experience. I am wondering if I may even extend it past the night.

Something strange to note with fasting. My vision seems to be doing something weird. I noticed it once with water fasting round 1 and just noticed it again tonight. My vision starts to get blurry. I am near sighted but had lasik done about 2-3 years ago and elected to have mono vision. One for near and one for far. My eyes/brain have adjusted to this type of vision and I pretty much see the TV guide fairly clearly. I'm just seeing it a bit fuzzier right now. I don't know if fasting maybe healing something or possibly lack of fluids may affect the mechanism of your eyes when focusing. One last thing to mention, I'm feeling my jaw starting to tighten up.

9:16pm
This will probably be my last update. I started to suddenly feel sleepy. I have been doing urinalysis testing through out the day. Nothing significant to note the whole day except pH remained at 7 or slightly above (more alkaline). Negative for ketones and everything else. However, this last test I took just now showed interesting results. For the first time ever I showed a positive reading for Leukocytes, bilirubin, protein, and ketones! all were the lowest level. Also, pH 7.5 (alkaline still)
This is fascinating. Boy having these test strips are handy.

I'm officially past 22hours and will no doubt complete the 24 hours. I will go the rest of the night through morning. I will post early in the morning with an update.

DAY1 COMPLETE!!!

Good night.
