Photo of Eden Foods at the San Diego County Fair. I gave away some Eden Food Goodies. There were very few healthy eating options at the San Diego Country Fair 2013.
Catching up with saying thanks!
In the last two months, I have been in the Science Classroom of my Niece Eva Becker at Hami High. I went up for the Science Fair, May 8, but had to leave before three delightful boxes of Eden Foods arrived! It was all my fault! I requested the non GMO organic goodies from Erica Mercer of Eden a few days too late! She made a special effort to get me the yummy foods on time.
The Science Fair was a major success. I went to Whole Foods Market the day of the event. I purchased some of my favorite Eden Foods that include Gomasio, a delightful sesame seed condiment. My favorite has garlic and sesame seeds. I already had some of the Eden Tomato sauce in our Enchanted Garden Pantry at home that is part of Nadine's favorite ingredients for "Nadine's Healthier Pizzeria" a fun concept we have been evolving.
What was I going to do about missing the Eden Delivery?
I knew I had to make another special trip up to Los Angeles from San Diego. The Seniors were having a fun day, a few Fridays before the end of the semester.
I made some special new Pizza Box displays. One said, "I ate Organic Food from Ms Eva Becker's Enchanted Garden Pantry."
The Organic Pantry for that particular Science classroom is one of my Seed Dreams. My Niece Eva told me months ago that many of the students come in hungry to class.
I created an Enchanted Garden Pantry where the students can be introduced to the snack foods and organic foods that I recommend for Youth.
I told the students about my plan months ago when I spoke to them about their dreams.
I was glad to make this special journey to fulfill my promise to the teens.
On the day I came, a Friday, the students were having fresh made juices. Some of them wanted to order a pizza, and did! They enjoyed as well the goodies from Eden Foods. The assortment included some of my favorite snack foods.
The Organic Squad at Hami High
Years ago, about 100 years ago, Dr. Harvey W. Wiley M.D., the very positive visionary founder of the idea of the FDA, organized a Poison Squad. This would test various additives and adulterants. The Poison Squad was a hit among the press. Fast forward 100 years or so....I have a Seed Dream for
The Organic Squad!
I am exposing these teens in the Science Classroom to some of the products of my favorite Natural Product Expo West Companies. These companies many non GMO and organic, make my work in the world possible.
There is also a large Art poster in the classroom of my art that says, "How Fast Can A Dream Grow! As Fast as a Blade of Grass!"
This Art Poster was featured at my display on May 8 at the Science Fair.
Erica Mercer and Michael Potter Sent me some really wonderful goodies!

There is a project on campus at Hamilton High to introduce better snack foods. I imagine in the fall contacting the students who are doing that project and introducing them to some of my favorite foods.
On to San Diego County Fair, June 15
On June 15, I went to the San Diego County Fair with my entry of Khorasan Ancient Wheat that can been grown out from KAMUT® brand non GMO organic wheat. I won a blue ribbon for this in the Home Ground Produce Contest.
I have been working on that story all week!
You can read it here
The story is about the difference between ancient and modern wheat
and also my work with ancient grains of khorasan wheat.

Props to Jennifer Galey of the Infield Farm at the Fair
Jennifer Galey, the infield Farm Coordinator, was already planning a youth activity that day that involved matching canned goods with the living plants that sourced the canned goods. In other words, she had corn growing in a barrel and the canned corn. The kids had to match the living plant to the can good. This was a good idea and she put a lot of work into the activity.
As a prize, the kids were being given plants to take home.
I added my own two cents.
I gave the kids the opportunity to have Baker Creek Heirloom Seeds for their pots as well as KAMUT Organic Non GMO Ancient Khorasan wheat.
Nadine and I also had our own activity. The kids and parents helped us grind KAMUT® brand ancient wheat for a Grow A Healthier Pizza Peach pie, Nadine will be making.
I had some Eden Food Goodies with me as prizes. We gave away some Eden Soymilk carob drink. I had some Pictasio nuts as well, but to tell the truth, I ate most of those--there weren't too many healthy offerings--as yet--at the San Diego County Fair!
What a Ride!
GMO presence at the San Diego County Fair is quite a Ride,
'
Nadine is always nudging me because I am such a workaholic. She wanted to have a date while we were at the fair. She was adamant that I go ride the Ferris wheel with her in the Fun Zone. She was encouraging me to go beyond my comfort zone! just going to the Fun Zone was beyond my comfort zone!
Nadine is definitely a thrill seeker, but the thrill for me was viewing the many GMO laden items for sale, and imagining seeing an incredible opportunity here for education about non GMO and organic foods.
What a ride most people are on with the GMOs at the Fair. They have no idea what they are eating.
Special thanks to Eden Foods for helping me begin to introduce some alternatives at the San Diego County Fair 2013, and very special thanks for helping me launch The Enchanted Garden Pantry at Ms Eva Beckers Science Classroom.
The Organic Squad lives!

The Book, "Grow A Healthier Pizza" is being written to inspire a new generation of Youth to see themselves as Sacred Seeds through planting Sacred Seeds, seeds called Heirlooms that have existed for many generations in their biodiverse state. In my role as Uncle Leslie in the science classroom of my niece Ms Eva Becker, the 2013 Art Work that says, "How Fast Can A Dream Grow? As Fast as a Blade of Grass!" now hangs. Below it our the names of esteemed companies and individuals who support the Youth through our work with the Campaign to Grow A Healthier Pizza.
